I thoroughly enjoy clarifying Medicare for my clients, ensuring they fully understand their choices, and guiding them toward the best coverage for their specific situation. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing the relief and peace of mind that comes when seniors feel secure in their healthcare decisions. So the question is, what do I enjoy most about working with Medicare clients? I think the one thing that I enjoy the most, my wife and I work together, we're the husband and wife Medicare team. But the one thing that I like about working with Medicare people is that it's really satisfying to help people work through the complex navigations of Medicare. It's kind of cheeky to say, "Oh, I like helping people." I really do. I mean, I was a cop for 28 years, so I helped a lot of people in that time, and I'm proud of it and I like it. It just gives satisfaction. That's what we do, and that's all we do.

Since the publications and networks can fill the minds with mostly false, inaccurate representations, assuring that I give the honest answers and expectations is satisfying. I enjoy the relationships and being the trusted advisors my clients can count on! Sometimes, you have to tell someone something they don't always want to hear, but you do it, because they will be hurt in the long run if you don't. Having the client understand that I'll bring up important factors they didn't even think about, and preparing them for their best future is what I'm about. Stopping the confusion, and giving the facts, let's me respect the man in the mirror each day and night. If I don't have my integrity, what do I really have?

There are three things I like about working with Medicare clients. The first one is when they're aging in, this may be the first time that a beneficiary isn't afraid of using a health plan. Under 65, health plans have deductibles and copays and all kinds of mystery, wherefores and therefores, exclusions and limitations, and out of network and approvals and non-approvals. It's terrifying for most 60 to 65-year-olds to be using a health plan. So much of their work, honestly, gets kicked down the road to when they turn 65. So it can be kind of an exciting time to go, okay, now we get to look at the LMNOP or the XYZ or the Hootie Hootie Water or the Zim Bambler or the Zing Wugler. So yeah, it's very exciting to finally be able to get the data that may have been kicked down the road because of fear of using a health plan that either they procured through the exchanges or through an employer plan. So that's the first thing that's exciting. Getting them into a plan affordably is really just so brilliant.

Second of all, I like to pivot them as their needs change. I like to work with their family members to have an open and honest dialogue about optimizing their health and looking at reallocating the resources towards perhaps items that aren't covered under Medicare for wellness, such as chiropractic or massage therapy or holistic health or supplemental health or travel, or being able to work with a budget so that the health of the individual as they age becomes optimized rather than just assuming it's going to get worse and throwing more money at it. It's really kind of being educated consumers about what's available.

And then thirdly, my last favorite thing to do is probably kind of twisted. But as our parents age, they require compassion and understanding, and family needs assistance to be able to pivot their resources as the needs towards the end of life occur. I love being a sounding board and an encourager and a cheerleader to empower families to take the reins of that and take advantage of some of the resources that are available through hospice and some of the more innovative legislation that exists in some of our states. So I really enjoy being a resource for wise use of scarce resources. So three things. Thanks for asking.

What do I like best about working with Medicare clients? I love the expression of relief after we've gone over all of their options and explained in detail what they actually mean and what they mean to the client. That expression of relief and the gratitude saying, "Wow, Tony, you made this easy." They can make great decisions as long as they have good information, and it's very confusing out there. So work with someone like myself to give you all the options of Medicare: Medicare A and B, Medicare supplement, Medicare Advantage, and Part D prescription plans. That's what I do on a daily basis for our clients. We go over the Medicare alphabet soup because it is so confusing.

Remember, you're making decisions at age 65 for your health, and most of us do not have better health after age 65. So these decisions become very important the older you get, especially monetarily. Please work with someone who can help you and give you all the pros and cons of the different plans, whether it's staying with original Medicare Part A and B, getting a Medicare supplement to cover Part A and B and your out-of-pocket costs, or choosing a Medicare Advantage plan, which is Plan C. It gets very confusing, and as I said at the beginning of this, once I explain in detail, I can make it very simple, and then clients can make great decisions based on good information. Give us a try.

What I love most about working with Medicare clients is knowing I can make a real difference in their lives. I became an agent because my grandmother was taken advantage of by an agent who never checked in — she was paying high premiums and high copays for her medications, and no one was there to help her. That experience made me determined to be the kind of advisor who listens, checks in, and makes sure no one else feels stuck or forgotten. Seeing the relief on my clients’ faces when they realize they’re supported and truly cared for is the most rewarding part of what I do.

I absolutely love working with Medicare clients because I get to unravel a topic that’s often daunting—turning confusion into clarity by educating them step-by-step, which feels like lifting a weight off their shoulders. There’s nothing better than seeing someone go from intimidated to empowered, knowing I’ve made this complex system approachable and straightforward for them. What drives me most is doing this in a highly regulated field where I don’t charge them directly—I’m right there with them, on their side, fighting for the best benefits possible without any financial agenda pushing me one way or another. Unlike so many other industries where money can cloud judgment, this is pure, unfiltered advocacy, and I’ve never once felt like Medicare is just a career or a job—it’s a passion I’m deeply grateful for every day.

What I enjoy most is the relief people feel once everything finally makes sense.

Medicare can feel overwhelming—too many letters, too many ads, too many opinions—and a lot of people come to me worried they’re about to make a costly mistake. I really enjoy slowing it all down, explaining things in plain English, and helping them realize, “Okay… I’ve got this.”

I also love the relationships. Medicare clients tend to be loyal, appreciative, and genuinely grateful when you look out for them year after year—not just during enrollment season. There’s something very satisfying about being the person they trust to call when a bill doesn’t look right, a prescription changes, or they just want reassurance they’re still on the right plan.

And honestly, I enjoy being able to say, “You’re already on the best plan—don’t change a thing.” That kind of honesty builds real trust, and that’s what makes this work meaningful to me.

I retired from the Social Security Administration after 35 years of service. I worked on the front lines taking claims, in mid level and executive leadership. I became a broker and social security advocate for seniors because I love sharing my knowledge with seniors so they can make good decisions that impact their health and wealth. Social Security and Medicare are complex programs that seniors need help navigating and I feel strongly that they need help as they turn 65, so they are able to make the best decision possible. I get a lot of satisfaction out of breaking down both SSA and Medicare so they are easily understood. This allows seniors to make educated and confident decisions.

You get bombarded with mail, all kinds of information that crisscrosses and doesn't make sense. The joy of helping people with Medicare is helping them sort through all of that mess and really understand in simple terms what their Medicare options are, what the potential pros and cons of each of those options are, and then truly helping them zero in on what best fits their circumstance, their situation. Yes, a rehab stay can be delayed, up to 90 days after a 3-day hospital stay. This depends on medical necessity and a doctor's certification that starting sooner is not appropriate due to recovery. Delays of more than 30 days require strong justification to maintain coverage.

I enjoy working with Medicare clients because I know firsthand how overwhelming the process can be, especially for seniors who may not have easy access to the right guidance. Having been raised by my grandmother, Anne, who had to navigate Medicare on her own after my grandfather passed, I understand the challenges seniors face in making informed decisions about their healthcare.

What I love most is simplifying Medicare for my clients—breaking down complex options into easy-to-understand terms so they can confidently choose what best fits their needs and budget. I take pride in ensuring they don’t encounter unexpected surprises, just as I wish my grandmother had access to clear and reliable guidance when she needed it. Client education and empowerment have always been my top priorities, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the relief and confidence on a client’s face when they realize they’ve made the right choice for their healthcare.

I feel very lucky that I get to meet the nicest people in my career. I love helping people understand their choices. When we first meet, clients often tell me how confusing enrolling in Medicare can be and knowing what to do as far as choosing a plan. The best moment is when they are able to make an educated decision based on their personal situation with confidence.

There life experience is priceless. We can often learn from others . I enjoy putting them at ease knowing that I have their interest. Seniors know other seniors "do the right thing". Call them back answer their questions or find out the answers if asked. My parents are in their late 80's I understand their generation. As per generation Z that's another conversation. lol

I could answer this question with a novel but the parts I enjoy the most are the relationships, the stories, the "A-ha" moments and seeing the stress leave someone's face when they realize you are truly there to help them. Healthcare becomes an integral part of one's life as they age so being a source of knowledge, understanding and compassion is a pretty amazing feeling.

WOW! What a Great Question… The Answer unequivocally, “PEACE OF MIND”

Ultimately, I am an educator. Once a US Navy Instructor Pilot, I educate my clients regarding their options and will generally utilize what I call “The Ben Franklin” (after one of our country’s founders) by taking a pad… Drawing a line or 2 or 3, from top to bottom and list the positives and negatives of each course of action. Examples would be stay on the employer plan, go with Original Medicare, choose a Medicare Advantage Plan (MAPD) but which one?

As Independent Brokers specially trained to consult on Part C, Advantage Plans, and certified with numerous major companies to offer these plans we are able to properly create the comparison for our client to evaluate, for each spouse, because all Medicare is Individual.

As we together filter through medical issues, medications required, doctor preferences, cost of the policies and or copayments expected (for each spouse)… need for supplemental benefits like dental, eye, hearing, etc… clarity begins to emerge which is the dawn of “PEACE OF MIND” for this years plans. Throughout the year we stay available to continue to ensure that “PEACE OF MIND” and next Annual Election Period we do it all again… We enjoy hearing the “Thank You, We don’t know how we would have understood all of this without you!”

What I enjoy most about working with Medicare clients is the opportunity to build genuine, trusting relationships while helping people navigate something that can often feel overwhelming. Many of my clients come in feeling uncertain or even anxious about their coverage options, and I really enjoy being able to explain things clearly and offer solutions that bring them peace of mind. There’s a real satisfaction in knowing that the guidance I provide makes a tangible difference in their day-to-day lives—whether it's helping them save money, access better care, or just feel more confident in their decisions.

I also appreciate the personal connections I form—Medicare clients often have incredible life stories and perspectives, and getting to know them beyond just the paperwork is something I find deeply rewarding.

Medicare can seem complex and over whelming. I enjoy taking the pain out of Medicare and making it simple. The number of plans available is mind boggling, but just going through a clients list of doctors, prescriptions, dental needs, travel needs, etc. helps narrow down the plan options quickly. I like that conversation to feel like a friendly chat, rather than an interrogation. Medicare isn't scary if you work with the right person.
