Q&A with Michael Young

What do you enjoy most about working with Medicare clients?

Answer: The best thing about working with Medicare clients is how rewarding it is helping them navigate the best plans that fit their lifestyle and building a personal connection with them for life as a retiree

What’s one hidden Medicare expense that people don’t think about until it’s too late?

Answer: Today I spoke to a retiree referred by a current client. She had dropped her Medicare Supplement because she was healthy and not seeing a return on her money. One of the costs she never considered was a heart attack. Under Part B of original medicare, she is responsible for her Part B Deductible ($257 for 2025) plus 20% of the cost. A heart attack can easily cost $5k or more dollars with just Part A and Part B.

I'm turning 65 soon, when can I enroll in Medicare?

Answer: 3 months before you turn 65, you can enroll in Part B of Medicare and your application will be accepted 90 days before you turn 65 for a medicare supplement, medicare advantage plan, or Part D drug plan. Please keep in mind if you are on Social Security at age 64, your Part B will activated automatically at age 65 and you will receive your Medicare Card in the mail in a plain envelope. If you are currently working and not drawing social security, you need to enroll online at Medicare.gov or make an appointment to visit a Social Security office for assistance
