What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?

Answered by 6 licensed agents

I really enjoy helping seniors navigate Medicare, as it can be quite confusing. Not only do I help my clients with applying for Medicare, but I also take pride in getting them into the plan that best suits their needs, regardless whether it is an Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan.

Knowing my clients enables me to determine if they qualify for any additional benefits through the state. I am also proficient at helping my clients solve issues that may arise, as I have access to solutions outside of their plan.

My clients are part of my extended family!

What I truly enjoy most about being a Medicare agent is not just helping people through a process that often feels overwhelming, but also teaching them about their options so they’re confident they’ve made the right call and know what’s ahead. I love the educational side of it—arming them with solid info—and then seeing the gratitude in my clients’ eyes once we’ve tackled this intimidating Medicare transition together. That sense of making a real difference for them beats any paycheck I could earn, and it’s what keeps me passionate about this work after all these years.

Great question. It is really satisfying helping seniors make sense of their options, reducing the complexities, and helping them feel more at ease. Being a sounding board, another opinion, to help them re-affirm, or refute, all of the things they see on TV, receive in the mail, or hear from family and friends, is valuable. I'm pleased to be a part of that process.

Knowing I have been of great service to someone, helping them to make the best decision for their health moving forward, is very rewarding internally. So many think they know what is best - a decision that came from their assumptions, falsely fed information by neighbors, or incomplete advertising. Well, they do until you share with them some knowledge that confirms or presents a different thinking that demonstrates they would have chosen incorrectly for themselves. Many do not put enough emphasis on NO UNDERWRITING, and how the wrong decision could change their life in an instant if they chose the wrong plan.

I operate with morals, values, and integrity. I have been hurt by people who sold me based on greed or malicious intent. I never want a client or proposed client to even question that. So as long as I can respect the person in the mirror each day, know that I am doing a needed service for someone with care and sincerity, and provide for my family and future in the process, my satisfaction is fulfilled!

Having the opportunity to teach my peers all of the quirks of Medicare has forever been my goal. I am paying it forward in that back in NYC, after moving to Tucson, my mother developed a # of major health issues. I feel that strangers came to her aid and caused her 7–8 more years of life until she passed at 92. This was my motivation to branch out into the healthcare field from scratch as the job I had back East simply didn’t exist here.

Helping seniors is really a personal thing for me. My mom lived in NJ and with me living in AZ, I was not able to be there on a consistent basis to help her out. She use to always tell me how people at the grocery store helped her, or how the people at the pharmacy delivered her medicine. She even told me that when she took out the trash, the young men in the neighborhood would stop her and take the trash from her so she wouldn't have to walk down the steps and possibly slip and fall. This is why I do what I do, I feel that it is my duty to pay it forward.
