What is the best way to compare Medicare plans for my parents?
Answer: The best way to compare Medicare Plans is to speak with a licensed agent. We are specifically trained to assist your parents in choosing the best plan for their specific needs. What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: I love helping seniors and medicare eligible make informed choices about their healthcare. It can be confusing. I recently helped a dear friend that was on medicare due to a disability but his friends told him he did not need a prescription drug plan or a medicare plan, just use GoodRX. He had been healthy for a few years, just a back injury. He was suddenly diagnosed with cancer and did not qualify for Medicaid because of his income. His cost for treatment became real and he did not have a prescription drug plan. He reached out to me right before the end of AEP and I was able to help him get a plan and he was able to continue his treatment, same doctors and hospital. As an agent I give all options and allow the person to decide what is best for them.
I picked a Medicare Advantage plan because of the dental and now I found out it only covers cleanings. Why didn't anyone tell me this upfront?
Answer: The details should be in the Summary of Benefits and your agent should have reviewed this with you. Sometimes those details are overlooked. You can always purchase a separate dental plan, there are many available. You just missed the Open Enrollment Period Jan 1 - March 31 to make any changes so you will have to wait until October 15 - December 7, which is the Annual Enrollment Period.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Because Medicare is confusing especially when you are turning 65 and have had your employer pick your plan for you. There are time sensitive activities you must do and many choices available. An agent has been annually trained to assist you in making decisions based on your specific needs. Agents are sincere and caring and want to help you make the right choice.
When is a good time to start preparing for AEP?
Answer: Start preparing for AEP in September or early October. Gather your medications, doctors and what you like in a plan so that you can discuss with your agent. There are a lot of plans that are not renewing so it is important to know what you want in a plan.
