Q&A with Kelli Holt

What's the difference in copays vs deductibles?

Answer: A copay is a set amount you pay for a specific procedure/service at the time you receive it. For example you may have a $0 copay for a visit to your primary care provider but a $40 visit to a specialist.

A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket first, before your insurance starts to pay. For example, if you have a $300 deductible, you must pay the first $300 in service fees before the plan begins to share the cost.

Are there plans that allow me to continue to travel anywhere and be covered?

Answer: Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) generally provides coverage nationwide, so you can get care anywhere in the U.S. However, it doesn’t cover non-emergency care outside the U.S.

Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) often have network restrictions, so coverage may be limited when traveling outside your plan’s service area. Some plans offer coverage for emergency care when you’re traveling within the U.S. or even abroad, but it varies by plan.

However, If you travel frequently, there are plans designed with more flexible coverage or travel benefits. I can help you find a plan that fits your travel needs and ensures you stay protected wherever you go.

Feel free to reach out, and we can review your options together!

What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?

Answer: What I like most about being a Medicare agent is helping people feel supported and confident during this important stage of life. Both of my parents are in their late 70s, so I understand firsthand how much clarity, patience, and compassion matter. I treat every client the same way I would want my own parents to be treated—with respect, care, and genuine concern for their well-being.
