Q&A with Angela Olson
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: What I love most about being a Medicare agent is helping people feel confident and cared for during a time that can be confusing and overwhelming.
There’s so much misinformation out there—friends, family, even the internet often only have part of the picture. I love taking the time to listen, explain things clearly, and put all the puzzle pieces together so my clients can make the best decisions for their unique needs. More than anything, I’m here as an advocate—for the long haul—not just during enrollment, but throughout their entire journey on Medicare.
Are Medicare Advantage plans really "free," or is that just clever marketing?
Answer: Nothing is free! It's important to know and understand how each plan is different and determine which one best suits your individual needs.
What are the red flags I should look for when interviewing agents? I want to make sure I'm not just getting sold to but genuinely advised.
Answer: The # one thing I tell people is make sure they are educating you on ALL of your Medicare choices, not ONLY Medicare Advantage or ONLY Medicare Supplement plans. 2. Find someone who is broker and represents EVERY plan in your area so that they can really help you find the one best suited to you. 3. Make sure they provide a lifetime of free customer service. It's important! The last thing you want to deal with is a confusing bill while you are trying to recover from a painful surgery. 4. Make sure they help you review your policy yearly so that you can be confident knowing you have great coverage despite yearly changes. 5. Lastly, check reviews! It's important to know that they have a good reputation and that they actually do what they tell you they do.
What is one of the the most common misconceptions people have about Medicare?

What's one piece of advice you wish every senior knew before picking a Medicare plan?
Answer: This one is simple; make sure you align yourself with a good broker who has strong reviews and social proof. They will take care of you for your entire lifetime!
I've been on disability for years and am about to turn 65. Do I automatically get Medicare because I'm on Social Security, or do I need to do something?
Answer: If you had Medicare before turning 65 to disability you will need to re-evaluate. Some things change once you hit that 65 landmark. Meet with a reputable brokerage. They'll walk you through those changes and your new options.
Which Medicare Supplement plan (Medigap) offers the best value for most seniors, and why?
Answer: They call Plan G the cadillac of all the plans. Ultimately, you want to understand the differences between the plans because there isn't a "one size fits all" option.
How will the new 2025 Medicare Part D out-of-pocket cap impact seniors and prescription drug costs?
Answer: It will be great for the people who take a lot of expensive medications, but will penalize the seniors who don't!
I have Original Medicare, and I'm wondering if I'd save more on my dental cleanings if I switched to a Medicare Advantage plan instead.
Answer: On the dental cleanings themselves, absolutely, but it could cost you way more than that on medical expenses. Find a good broker to walk you through the impacts.
Why is regular Medicare better than an advantage plan?
Answer: It's not necessarily better, but some advantages are that you don't have prior authorizations or networks of doctors/ facilities/ providers.
