Only in the event of non payment. Otherwise your medigap plan should be guaranteed renewable. Always check with your agent for questions!

Medigap insurers may cancel plans based on lack of payment for premium and sometimes if you move out of an area that they service.

Generally no, the only possible reason would be if the company went under but if that happened you would have a chance to get another plan of the same type guaranteed issue. The only reason they could terminate your specific coverage would be for non payment of premiums or fraud or abuse.

Medigap policies are guaranteed renewable. This means that your plan has to renew your policy every year as long as your pay your premiums even if you are filing a lot of costly claims.

There have been Medigap carrier become insolvent and pull out of the market, however, you are protected in this situation. If this happened to you, you would have guaranteed issue rights to get another plan with no underwriting. The guaranteed issue plan is a Plan G or Plan F depending on when you became eligible for Medicare.

Medigap policies are by design and contract automatically renew each year, as long as the monthly premiums are paid on time. premiums may change form time to time. Most increase at least yearly. A provider may decide to exit an region or state, if that occurs, that notice activates a Special Enrollment Period of time during which impacted clients may sign up with another provider using a guarantied issue right, meaning no health questions. The price may be different, but no health questions and no pre-existing condition exclusions. This may happen during the year or at year end.

As long as you are paying your premiums as agreed and did not answer any questions falsely on your application your Medigap can not terminate you.

There are a few ways that a Medigap insurer can terminate your policy:

1. Non-payment of premium.

2. You move out of the area and would need to enroll in a plan that is offered in your new state.

3. The insurer files for bankruptcy.
