Should I review my ANOC with my Medicare agent?

Answered by 39 licensed agents

Absolutely! Your agent can help confirm that your doctors are still in-network... your prescriptions are still in-formulary.

If you've been happy with the plan and all of those things are still in-network/formulary... they can help clarify the plan changes and then help you determine if that is STILL the best policy for the incoming year.

You should review your ANOC on your own to determine if your current plan will still meet your needs and that there are no major changes. If your health has changed, your doctor has dropped the plan or your plan has changed dramatically, then you should reach out to your agent. Remember, the purpose of your Advantage plan to to protect you from high and catastrophic medical bills. Focus on your providers and your healthcare costs before getting too wrapped up in the extra benefits.

Yes I try to reach out to meet with my clients every year. For two reasons.

One to make sure they are happy with the

Program they are currently in. Two, if there is a better program. Show it to them.

The question is, should I review my annual notice of change with my Medicare agent? Absolutely. The ANOC, or Annual Notice of Change, lets you know what the changes are for your particular plan for the following year or the upcoming year. So definitely go over your ANOC, Annual Notice of Change, with your agent. I'm here to help.

You should absolutely review your ANOC. I hear clients tell me that they threw them out and that is why they usually call me in January after they find out that the plan had changes that they were "unaware" of. Check your mail and read the ANOC!

Absolutely—yes. Your ANOC (Annual Notice of Change) tells you exactly what’s changing with your Medicare plan for next year, and reviewing it with your Medicare agent helps make sure higher premiums, drug changes, or provider network changes don’t catch you by surprise. Even if you’re happy with your plan, a quick review can confirm you’re still in the best option or uncover a better one for your needs.

At Live Well Benefit Advisors, we recommend reviewing your Annual Notice of Change with your Medicare agent. The ANOC shows any changes to your plan, like costs, coverage, or network updates, that will take effect next year. Reviewing it helps ensure your doctors and prescriptions are still covered and lets you compare your plan to other options that might save money or offer better benefits. At Live Well Benefit Advisors, we conduct annual reviews and mid-year check-ins with all of our clients to make sure their coverage continues to meet their needs and to prevent any surprises throughout the year.

The first thing you should do when you receive your Annual Notice of Change is simply review it. It will be a side by side comparison of your current coverage versus the coverage you will have the following year should you decide to remain in the plan. It's the single best way to stay informed about changes in your policy from year to year. If you see anything that concerns or confuses you then reach out to your agent. If you're okay with the changes you see then just do nothing and the policy will be rolled over to the following year automatically.

NOTE: If a plan is not renewing, or is exiting your market entirely, the plan does not send a standard ANOC because there are no "changes" to describe for a plan that won't exist next year. Instead, the plan is required to send a separate non-renewal or termination notice to affected enrollees. This notice informs you that the plan is ending, explains what happens next (e.g., whether you'll be automatically enrolled/"mapped" into another plan offered by the same company, or if you'll be disenrolled). If you receive one of these notices you should immediately set up an appointment with your agent during the Annual Enrollment Period (Dates: 10/15–12/7) or a Special Enrollment Period if applicable.

Yes, if you are not clear as to what the changes are and how they might impact you, it's always good to have a review with your agent every year and you want to go over any changes that you've had in your prescriptions. And it is the one time of year that you're able to change prescription plans in addition to Medicare advantage plans. If you have one of those, I do recommend supplement plans if you can afford them

Yes - it's a smart idea to review your Annual Notice of Change with a Medicare agent you trust. They can help you spot changes to your premiums, copays, drug list, and network, and compare your current plan to other options for the new year.

That way you are not surprised in January and you can switch if another plan fits your doctors, prescriptions, and budget better.

Yes, it’s a good idea to review your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) with your Medicare agent. The ANOC explains how your current plan will change for the upcoming year—things like premiums, copays, deductibles, and which drugs or providers are covered. Even small changes can affect your costs or access to care. An agent can walk you through the updates, compare your plan with other options in your area, and make sure you’re not missing out on better coverage or savings.

Absolutely! Its always go to review it with your agent as they can go over any major changes.

Plans change year to year and it is better to be prepared than surprised. Also your agent can see if that plan is still a good option for you or if there is something better to move to. A good agent will then double check that your doctors and prescriptions are covered as well.
