I want to get a shingles vaccine. Will Medicare cover this preventive service?

Answered by 18 licensed agents

The Shingles vaccine is covered by your Part D Prescription plan. It is not covered by Part A or B. Medicare Part D covers all the recommended vaccines by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). This includes Shingles, RSV, whooping cough, etc. The plan will not charge you a copayment or credit towards a deductible for doing so.

Shingles is a shot that Medicare approves. Please call your plan and let them know you want this to make sure they cover it.

It does under Part D. There is generally no cost. Talk to your doctor and get a prescription. They will take it from there.

Yep, Medicare does cover the shingles vaccine now, finally! If you have a Medicare Part D plan, it should be covered with little to no cost, depending on your plan.

The shingles vaccine is covered by Medicare Part D. You will be responsible for the out-of-pocket expenses that are specific to the Medicare Part D plan you are enrolled in. Medicare Part D is the prescription drug portion of Medicare.

The shingles vaccine is fully covered if you have a Medicare Part D (standalone prescription drug plan) or a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) with prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Part D covers prescription drugs, and since shingles vaccines are considered preventive services, they are fully covered under Part D.

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription drug coverage (Part D), it will also cover the shingles vaccine.

With the Inflation Reduction Act, all out-of-pocket costs, including copays and deductibles, for vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) are eliminated.

Medicare does not cover the shingles shot. The shingles shot is covered under Part D (a prescription plan). Once you enroll in a prescription drug plan, the shingles shot should be covered at 100%.

Yes, Medicare will now cover the shingles vaccine.

The Inflation Reduction Act 2022 removed the high co-pays associated with the shingles vaccine.

No, Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage) does not automatically come with Medicare. It's a separate, optional component of the Medicare program that you can choose to enroll in

Yes, Medicare generally covers the shingles vaccine (Shingrix). Specifically, Medicare Part D, which is the prescription drug coverage part of Medicare, covers this vaccine. Additionally, many Medicare Advantage plans also offer prescription drug coverage and will cover the vaccine. If you have Medicare Part D, you may not have to pay anything out-of-pocket for the shingles vaccine.

There is never an "always" answer...but in most cases vaccines are covered at 100% now with most plans. Again, if you have an agent, they should be able to answer that question for you

Medicare Part D covers the Shingles vaccination. Part D is a prescription drug plan that you would purchase from a CMS approved Insurance provider. It is typically purchased to compliment a Medicare Supplement Plan. Or, one is bundled with a Medicare Advantage Plan.

People with a Part D plan usually do not pay out of pocket for most vaccines, including for the Shingles vaccine. Neither Part A or B covers the Shingles vaccine.

Medicare Drug coverage covers the shingles shot ( not Medicare Part A or Medicare Part B) . People with Part D usually pay nothing out of pocket for most vaccines.

if you wanna get a shingles vaccine. You will need to have a Medicare part D plan. Original Medicare A and B will not cover the vaccine. However, the vaccine should be a preventative service not costing you anything out of pocket through part D.
