Q&A with Brittany Morris

Answer: My Favorite question! Always always always review what you’re offered by Medicare even if you’re still working! You may find tons of savings in premium or be able to really improve your coverage! Comparing the two will give you best answer to your question but not comparing it could cost you in the long run!

Answer: I would say the number one worst decision someone can make is trying to figure it all out alone. It cost nothing for a beneficiary to talk to an expert. We spend our lives learning the ins and outs of Medicare. I run into more people who have done it alone for years and either have penalties, wrong coverage, lack of coverage- or wish they would have worked with someone sooner to guide them. It’s not sales, it’s education. Medicare is a journey and everyone needs a guide.

Answer: The most important question you should be asking about your Medicare coverage is not a question you can ask your agent, but a question you must ask yourself does this plan fit me? In order for it to be the right plan for you it has to fit you - not your neighbor. It must fit your budget, your lifestyle, cover your medicine, and provide access to your doctors.

Answer: Original Medicare has two parts part a is hospitalization. This covers you when you are inpatient part B is your medical coverage. This covers you when you are outpatient. These are the only two parts of Medicare that fall under original Medicare original Medicare does not cover prescription drugs, vision, dental, and hearing.

Answer: Yes, screenings and testing usually have coverage under your preventative benefits. If you are looking for a specific screening, work with your provider to ensure medical necessity exists.

Answer: As long as your doctor orders home health after surgery you should have coverage. Work with your provider to access this benefit

Answer: Definitely! They’re paid to sell plans and they boast about benefits that are not available to all seniors. Additionally they pay big personalities and continue to reduce or eliminate agent commissions making it harder for seniors to navigate coverage

Answer: Yes in and outpatient surgeries are covered by Medicare. Check your summary of benefits for specific plan information or contact Medicare. You can also download Medicare’s What’s Covered app and learn all about original Medicare coverage

Answer: You can switch a Medicare advantage plan during open enrollment between January- March if you are unhappy with the coverage on a different Medicare advantage plan. However, if you are on a stand alone PDP, you would not be able to switch until AEP ( October-December ). Many times when you need a mediation, if the plan does not offer coverage you can call and request a formulary exception which could activate some coverage for your medication.

Answer: I give my clients many options, and strive to educate my clients. Personally I do not feel like I sell anything. The plan you select must work for you. I hope you find an agent you can trust.

Answer: I would say Part B givebacks are the most overhyped. It makes the plan look very attractive at first look, but nearly every plan with a LARGE part B givebacks also has a VERY LARGE Inpatient hospital per day copay. Be sure to look at all benefits before enrolling!

Answer: While original Medicare will not cover this vaccine, your Part D plan should thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. ACIP-recommended vaccines like Shingrix must be covered by Part D at 100%. To receive this you must visit an in network pharmacy or see a provider who can bill you prescription coverage.

Answer: Usually during AEP anyone on a Medicare Advantage plan can review their current coverage and compare it to the coverage available for the upcoming year. It’s also always great time to review your prescription coverage as this can change from year to year. AEP is also the time when someone can return to original Medicare. If you choose not to review plans during AEP, your current plan will send you information for the upcoming year automatically.
