Does Medicare cover CT scans, and how much do they cost?

The simple answer is YES; Medicare will cover medically necessary CT scans.  How they are going to be paid will be different.  

1.)  If you have Original Medicare, OM will pay 80% AFTER you meet your annual Part B deductible ($283 in 2026) but you will be responsible for the 20% not covered by Medicare.

2.)  If you have a Medicare Advantage (MA/MAPD plan) the plan will cover this, but your copay is going to differ by plan.  You will also need to have pre-authorization/pre-approval from the carrier before the test is performed.  Without following their guidelines, you could end up being responsible for the cost of this test.

3.)  If you have a Medicare Supplement, this coverage will cover the 20% not covered by Original Medicare.  Plan F would not have the Medicare Part B annual deductible, Plan G and Plan N would have the Medicare Part B annual deductible prior to the plan paying.  

Please keep in mind that with a Medicare Supplement Plan N you would be responsible for a 15% excess charge if the doctor you see does not accept Medicare assignment.

Yes. Medicare generally covers medically necessary CT scans when they're ordered by your doctor.

Yes they are covered, the fee depends on what Advantage plan you have. If you have original Medicare with a supplement it would be covered, with out a supplement your cost would be 20%

It depends, if you have regular Medicare and a supplement and are thru the deductible.  It could cost zero. If you have a Medicare Advantage it would be the cost of the copayment.

Yes. Medicare covers CT scans. Your actually cost depends on your PArt B deductible, where the CT scan is performed and if they accept Medicare.

Medicare does cover Part B expenses once you meet the Part B deductible. CT scans are paid through Medicare Part B once tge deductible is met  !!!
