Am I eligible for a Special Enrollment Period if I lose employer coverage?

Answer: Yes you are eligible. Make sure you submit documents to the social security office that shoes you still had employer coverage. As long as you do that within 63 days of losing your employer coverage you should not be penalized.

Why do some seniors end up paying lifelong penalties for Medicare Part B or Part D?

Answer: Normally this happens because of the late enrollment penalty. There is a time frame to enroll in Part B as will as enrolling into a prescription drug plan.

Why did my Medicare deductible reset in January?

Answer: Medicare benefits operate on a calendar-year basis, so many deductibles reset every January 1. Medicare is not a lifetime insurance contract with one deductible forever—it’s an ongoing federal health insurance program that renews its cost-sharing structure each calendar year.

Can I have both Medicare and Medicaid at the same time?

Answer: Yes you can. Medicaid is state and Medicare is federal. If you have both you are considered dual eligible.

Did you know you can receive money back each month from your part B premium?

Answer: Yes some plans do have that as part of a Medicare Advantage Plan. Please mane sure you understand how that benefit works before enrolling into one of those plans. Also, if you have Medicaid and depending on your level you may not qualify for that benefit.

Does Medicare cover CT scans, and how much do they cost?

Answer: Yes. Medicare covers CT scans. Your actually cost depends on your PArt B deductible, where the CT scan is performed and if they accept Medicare.

So my friend told me I should just go with the cheapest Medicare plan. That sounds too simple - what am I missing?

Answer: I would advise you to check these certain things.

1: Your Doctors/Hospitals are in Network

2: Make sure your Rx are covered

3: Do you travel? make sure you have that type of coverage.

4: Extra benefits: Do you need Dental, Vision or Hearing.

These are the things that should be taken into consideration before choosing a plan. Hope this helps.

Do husband and wife each pay their own Medicare premiums, or is there a family plan option?

Answer: Medicare premiums are paid by each beneficiary. There is no family plan option.
