Helen Clee, Medicare Insurance Broker
About Me
Hi, I’ve been in the insurance industry most of my life as I enjoy helping people find solutions to suit their needs. I now specialize in both Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans by finding the lowest-cost, highest-benefit plans for my clients. I want them to really understand why they're in the plan that I've recommended for them. I also enjoy helping my clients navigate other parts of the complicated healthcare ecosystem, such as finding savings for their medications and qualifying for subsidy programs. Outside of work, I enjoy music, dancing and reading.
Q&A with Helen Clee
If a senior is turning 65 but still working, should they enroll in Medicare or delay it?
Answer: If a senior is turning 65 but still working, and have creditable employer provided coverage, they should delay in enrolling in Medicare Part B. They should still enroll in Part A. It doesn't cost anything and they would have a Medicare number. Then it'd be easier when they are ready to apply for Part B. In some instances it'd make sense to enroll in Part B if it's cheaper than the employer coverage or the employer coverage is not creditable.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Working with a trusted Medicare agent is invaluable. He/She not only has broader market knowledge regarding but also local knowledge as far as benefits available to seniors. A good agent is always available to answer questions you may have about Medicare or your specific plan, and can facilitate in helping with setting appointments, billing issues, etc. Working with a knowledgeable agent is much more benefitcial than navigating this complicated area of insurance on your own.
After a surgery, should I expect out-of-pocket costs?
Answer: Whether you have out-of-pocket costs depends on your plan. Some plans have coinsurance, some plans have copays. These costs can vary whether it's in-patient or out-patient surgery as well. Best to check with your plan and/or broker.
