Yes, they are. Medicare pays 80% of the approved amount. Patient pays 20% coinsurance unless they have Medigap/Supplement in which case it usually reduces to $0. A Medicare Advantage plan varies by plan, but typically $0-$40.

Most Medicare Advantage plans cover psychologists and psychiatrist visits. Social worker visits are not medical, so no, they are not covered. Social worker by definition are not licensed in mental heath therapy, so not covered by a health care plan.

Yes, psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists are generally covered under Medicare, so long as they accept Medicare. Generally, you can count on at least 80% coverage, and then depending on whether you are a Medicare Advantage client or an original Medicare client with a supplement, additional coverages may also be available.

Yes—Medicare does cover mental health visits, including:

• Psychologists (clinical)

• Licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs)

• Psychiatrists and other mental-health doctors

Coverage works for both in-office and telehealth visits, as long as the provider accepts Medicare. Your cost will depend on whether you have Original Medicare, a Medigap plan, or a Medicare Advantage plan.

Yes, visits with psychologists and psychiatrists are included in Medicare coverage! If you are enrolled into a Medicare Advantage plan, you will be responsible for the specialist copay or coinsurance. Out-of-pocket expenses can vary depending on if you see a provider in your plan's network or out of network.

If you are enrolled into Original Medicare, you are responsible to meet a $283 deductible (in 2026) and then Medicare pays 80% of the Medicare Allowable Charge, given that the provider is a Medicare provider. Hope this helps!
