For those who choose to have a Part C plan, they receive extra benefits as part of being members of that plan's network. The OTC card typically is a prepaid card that allows its members to buy eligible health and wellness products at no additional cost. When your broker explained to you your health plan, they should have shown you your plan's Evidence of Coverage which tells you if they have an OTC card and what is considered eligible. You could review that document (also called a Summary of Benefits), log into your member portal for your health plan, reach back out to your broker, or call your plan's Member Services line.

The Medicare OTC card is a benefit that is offered from a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C of Medicare) from a private health insurance carrier. This allows you to purchase items that insurance does not cover like vitamin supplements, first aid items, and some toiletry items. 

These funds are given quarterly and automatically deposited at the beginning of the quarter. In some cases, depending on certain medical conditions, you could qualify for a higher allowance and use the amount for different things like food, utilities, rent and mortgage payments to help offset the costs of living, especially on a fixed budget. 

Ask a Medicare agent to look at your current plan and see what your plan has as far as OTC benefits. Not all insurance plans offer OTC benefits.

Some of the Medicare Advantage plans offer the Over The Counter card. Not all Medicare Advantage plans do though. Look in your Evidence Of Coverage document on your policy to know. Call your insurance company for a copy of your Evidence Of Coverage document if you don't have it. Contact your Broker for assistance. Thank you.
