Medicare covers dermatology visits when they are medically necessary to diagnose or treat a skin condition, such as suspicious moles, skin cancer, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, infections, or wounds.

Under Original Medicare, these services are generally covered by Part B, and you will typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after meeting your Part B deductible. However, Medicare does not usually cover routine skin checks or cosmetic procedures, such as skin tag removal or treatments performed solely to improve appearance.

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, medically necessary dermatology services are still covered, though copays, referrals, and network requirements may vary depending on the plan.

Absolutely... with a supplement Plan G you'd pay $0 for the doc visit and treatment... with an Advantage plan, you'd probably have a specialist copay and depending on the treatment performed, some coinsurance. I recently had a wart removed, took two treatments, and with the Advantage plan I'm on, just paid the $15 doctor copay... included the nitrogen treatment.

Yes, they cover Dr visit, biopsy, only when it's Medically necessary. They do not cover preventative or cosmetic treatment.

Yes Medicare covers a visit with a specialist as long as they accept payment from Medicare.

Yes. Medicare Part B covers medically necessary dermatology visits, such as evaluating and treating skin conditions, infections, rashes, or suspicious moles. Routine cosmetic procedures are generally not covered. If your dermatologist accepts Medicare, you’ll typically pay the Part B deductible and 20% coinsurance.

Yes, but the doctor must accept Medicare and it must be a Medicare approved procedure. My suggestion would be to call the doctors office to see if they accept Medicare.

Medicare covers dermatology services, but only when they are medically necessary. Whether you have Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, the distinction usually comes down to "medical care" versus "cosmetic care.
