Yes. You need a scope of appointment to discuss all of it :) The scope is typically signed before the first appointment.

No, you do not need a scope of appointment to discuss a Medicare supplement plan. You also do not need a scope of appointment 48 hours prior to discuss an advantage plan this changed on June 1. You can do the appointment at the appointment.

You do not need a Scope of Appointment to discuss Medicare Supplement plans. This form is only required when you speak to an agent about Medicare Advantage (MAPD and MA) as well as prescription drug (PDP) plans.

No Medicare Supplement Plans do not require a Scope but you can always have one filled out so just incase you have to cover a Medicare Drug plan or a Medicare advantage ,

There is no requirement for a scope of appointment to talk about a Medicare supplement. However, I would complete a scope of appointment as the discussion will most likely lead to a discussion about medicare advantage.

If we're discussing original Medicare, such as supplements to Medicare (Plan G, Plan N etc.) then no. These plans are not regulated by the federal government. We are free to discuss pricing, carrier comparisons and underwriting. These are regulated more at the state level.

A scope of appointment is required if we're discussing Medicare Advantage (Part C) or prescription plans (Part D). These are federally regulated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which mandates documenting the scope of the conversation before the appointment.

No you do not.

However, if you are discussing standalone PDP plans, to go along with the Medicare Supplement, you will.

No. A Scope of Appointment (SOA) is not required to discuss or enroll someone in a Medicare Supplement plan (also called Medigap).

The SOA requirement applies to:

Medicare Advantage plans (Part C)

Part D Prescription Drug Plans

It does not apply to:

Medicare Supplement / Medigap plans

However, you still must follow all applicable CMS and carrier compliance rules when discussing Medicare products.
