Will I get an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) every year?

Answered by 51 licensed agents

Yes, each insurance company will send or email you an ANOC each year in the fall, usually the end of September or first week of October. This provides you with a comparison of this years benefits and price to what is offered for the next year. So you have the opportunity to review and compare before speaking with your agent with questions and advice.

Yes, you will be sent an Annual Notice of Change every year for Medicare Advantage plans and Stand Alone Part D Drug plans. It is important that you read these each year. If your plan changes and you aren't aware of the changes, you will have many unpleasant surprises during the next calendar year.

If you aren't sure how to interpret your ANOC, find a local broker you trust and ask them to explain it to you. Not only will they explain it, but they can show you how the other plans in your area compare to your current plan.

Will you get an annual notice of change every year, or an ANOC? Those who are on a Medicare Advantage Part C plan or a prescription drug plan Part D will receive an annual notice of change annually as the annual enrollment period approaches every October. It's important to review that annual notice of change because it will share with you any changes the insurance company is making to the plan and to coverage.

Now, those who are on original Medicare with a supplemental plan, your supplemental plan will not send you an annual notice of change. The annual notice of change, or ANOC, is only sent to those who are enrolled in Medicare Advantage or a Part D standalone prescription drug plan. I hope that helps. Until next time, be healthy and be well.

If you are enrolled in a Med Advantage or Part C plan or a Part D rx drug plan, your provider is required to send you an ANOC (annual notice of change). I believe that they have to have it out no later then the end of September.

However, if you are an Original Medicare plan with a med supp (medigap plan) you don't typically receive an ANOC because the plans are standardized and the benefits don't change every year. The premium can change but not the benefits.

So, the answer is, if you have a private Medicare plan (med advantage or a part d rx plan) you get an ANOC every year, but not one for Med supps.

Yes — and I want you to actually read it.

I know that sounds like something nobody does. You get a big envelope in the mail every September, it's packed with pages of fine print, and most people toss it on the counter and never open it. I get it.

But here's the thing — that envelope could save you or cost you hundreds of dollars, and nobody ever sits down with people and explains that. That's exactly why I do what I do.

Yes, if you’re enrolled in a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan or a stand-alone Part D drug plan, your insurance company is required to send you an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) by September 30 each year. This document highlights changes in premiums, copays, drug coverage, provider networks, and extra benefits for the upcoming year, so you can review your options before the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7).

If you only have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, you will not receive an ANOC because Medigap benefits are standardized and don’t change annually. The only updates you might get are notices of premium adjustments from the carrier.

If you are currently on a Medicare Advantage plan or a PDP-Prescription Drug Plan, then yes you should received and ANOC each and every year. They are usually sent out in the month of September. The ANOC explains what the difference in your current plan is against that same plan for the upcoming year, in this case 2026. It is at this time that you can decide if you need further guidance from a licensed agent as to whether or not you should continue with such plan. Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) runs from October 15th - December 7th each and every year and it is at this time that you can make a change to either the MAPD (Medicare Advantage Plan), or the PDP (Prescription Drug Plan). This plan change would become effective 1/1/2026.

If you are one a Medicare Supplement plan, you will not receive an ANOC since these plans typically do not change from year to year.

I hope you find this answer helpful.

Thank you for your question. All carriers are required to send out ANOC to every client that holds a policy with them denoting what will change concerning anything and everything that varies from your current policy designations. This includes and co-payment changes, changes to your coverages, and potential changes to your network in rare circumstances.

This is designed to give you as much information possible so you can make an informed decision during annual election period should the changes in your existing plan no longer meet your needs or expectations.

I hope this helps
