How do I apply for Medicare if I qualify because of a disability?

Voss Speros here, Greek god of Medicare. If Medicare's all Greek to you, you're in luck, I'm Greek.
The question today is: how do I apply for Medicare if I qualify because of a disability? So you qualify because of a disability because you've been on SSDI, Social Security Disability Income, for at least 24 months. On the 25th month, you can call in and say, hey, I want to go on Medicare. You call the Social Security department and say, I want to go on Medicare.
Now, they might enroll you automatically. But I've seen a lot of people where they've been on disability for years and not on Medicare. Then you sit down and go through everything, and they wonder why, how come they didn't? No one told them.
So if you're under 65 on SSDI disability, call the Social Security department and say, hey, I want to sign up for Medicare benefits. They'll look at your case, they'll see everything, see it's over 24 months, boom, they'll sign you up.
If you have any other questions, let me know. Also, if you're on SSI, that doesn't count. I don't think that counts towards Medicare and disability. And just signing up for disability doesn't count for Medicare, it's 24 months.
If you have any questions, let us know.

To get Medicare due to a disability before age 65, you must first qualify for and receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) for 24 months. You will then be automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B starting in your 25th month.
Because you are under 65, your Medicare enrollment is usually automatic. You will receive a Welcome Packet and your official Medicare Card in the mail approximately 3 months prior to your 25th month of SSDI benefits.
