If you have a disability attorney, they typically will help you. If you’ve been on disability for 24 months, you should be eligible for Medicare part B. You can also contact your Social Security administration and they should be able to assist you with that.

If you qualify for Medicare because of a disability, enrollment happens automatically after you have received Social Security Disability benefits for 24 months. Your Medicare card is usually mailed to you before your coverage begins. If you are unsure about your eligibility or timing, contacting Social Security or speaking with a Medicare agent can help make sure everything is on track.

You cannot apply for Medicare due to a disability directly; you must first be approved for SSDI through the Social Security Administration (SSA). You can submit your application online using the SSA Disability Benefits Portal.

To get Medicare due to a disability before age 65, you must first qualify for and receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) for 24 months. You will then be automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B starting in your 25th month.

Because you are under 65, your Medicare enrollment is usually automatic. You will receive a Welcome Packet and your official Medicare Card in the mail approximately 3 months prior to your 25th month of SSDI benefits.

For more details/guidance, go to: https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/disability/qualify.html

If you are awarded disability by Social Security, you will be notified when your Medicare will go into effect. 3-4 months before it goes into effect, you will receive a Medicare Health Insurance Card (Red/White/Blue) in the mail. Starting 3 months prior to the effective date, you can then select and enroll in a plan of your choosing.

You become eligible for Medicare after 24 months of SSDI payments. There are a few exceptions to get it right away. ALS or ESRD.

You would apply for Medicare by going to Medicare.gov. A good local agent should be willing to assist you with this even though there is no relationship between an agent and Medicare Part a and part b
