Do I need to notify Medicare or Social Security if I move to a new address?

Yes, you should notify both Social Security Administration and Centers for Medicare Services when you move to a new address. Updating your address helps make sure you continue receiving important Medicare and Social Security notices, bills, and plan information without interruption.

Yes, you will want to notify both Medicare and Social Security when you move. This not only helps ensure you continue receiving important communications regarding your Medicare coverage, premiums, Social Security benefits, and annual plan information, but it may also qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you need to change your Medicare plan based on your new location.

In many cases, updating your address with Social Security will also update your Medicare records automatically.

You can update your address:

✔️ Online through your SSA.gov account

✔️ By calling Social Security

✔️ Or by visiting your local Social Security office

If you are moving, it’s always a good idea to contact a local Medicare broker who can help you review whether your current plan still fits your needs in your new area.

If you have questions, I’m always happy to help!

You should at the least login to your accounts and update your contact information. If you have moved out of your service area or State it will most definitely affect your Part D or MAPD plan. You have 60 days to notify your Part D or MAPD insurance company.

Yes, you should update both Medicare and Social Security when you move. Your address affects important notices, plan information, and in some cases the Medicare plans available in your area. Updating your information also helps prevent delays with benefits or mail delivery.

It's not mandatory however if you need a new Direct Express card, Medicare ID card, or Social Security card then yes you would need to notify them.

You would need to notify your insurance broker about your new address if you're under an advantage plan so that your policy isn't cancelled with the carrrier due to being outside of your previous service area.

But for Medicare or Social Security directly? Depends.
