You can get Medicare through a spouses benefits. But how much it costs depends on your situation, especially your (or a spouse’s) work history.

Yes, you can get Medicare if you never worked or didn't pay into the system, but you will likely have to pay a monthly premium for Part A (hospital insurance). To get it for free, you generally need 10 years (40 quarters) of work or qualify for low income Medicaid!

No. I do not think so.

But you can get an ACA plan if you are not offered Medicare. However, you can alway call Medicare or go to the social security office to find out.

Yes. You have a couple options. Pay a premium to have Part A, or if you are married or widowed from someone that worked 40 quarters and paid into Social Security you can use those credits as your own to qualify.

Thank you for the question.

Yes you can still get Medicare if you have not contributed to the program.

There are some qualifying events, one is you will have a premium.

My best recommendations, is find a local Medicare Agent, to review what you would need in your particular situation.

Hope this helps..

Thank you

Yes, you can still get Medicare even if you never worked or didn't pay into the system.

If your spouse worked full time for 10 years and paid Medicare taxes, you may still be able to qualify for premium free Part A, based on their work history.

If you have not paid into the system, you can still apply for Part A and Part B, however you will have to pay a premium for both parts instead of qualifying for a premium free Part A.
