Q&A with Maggie Castillo

Are the Medicare flex cards and grocery allowance cards I see on TV legit?

Answer: They are legit, but you will have to qualify to get it. I can help you see if you qualify for this benefit.

If I don't have a primary physician will my new carrier assign me to one?

Answer: If you have a Medicare Advantage HMO plan and you didn't pick a plan at the time of enrollment, the carrier will pick one for you. Take into consideration that it may not be the one you want or currently have.

If you have a Medicare Supplement, you don't need to pick a primary care doctor.

How can I find out if Medicare will cover a specific procedure or treatment before I schedule it?

Answer: The best option is always contact your agent and ask for your plan's summary of benefits book, there you can find the details of what your plan will cover and how much copayments, deductibles, and/or coinsurance ( if any) you will be responsible for.

If you are not working with an agent, please contact your health insurance cartier and ask them to send it to you.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: Working with an agent will help you to be updated with all the constant changes in Medicare benefits, networks and make sure you have the best health plan throughout the years.

I have Medicare Part A and B since 06/01/2006 because of disability. My husband retired on 4/1/2024, and I now have no other coverage except for Medicare Parts A and B because I missed open enrollment for insurance coverage. Note: SS dropped SSI and changed it to straight SS. Please help.

Answer: Hello, you both are elegible for Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement, but to better assist you and give you a more accurate answer I will need to know your current ( State, zip code, and county).
