Q&A with Joshua Price
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: The thing I like most about being a Medicare agent is that I get to help people choose their plan that is right for them. I take each client seriously and I enjoy spending time with my clients.
How can I verify if a Medicare Advantage plan's advertised benefits are legit?
Answer: That is a great question! Well, there are a few things you can do to verify if the benefits are legit. You could review the plan's official documentation that you should have received in your meeting with an agent. You can also call the customer service department of the company that you choose to provide your benefits. You can also meet with a Medicare broker who will review your plan with you and also provide you with information to help you understand your plan.
I changed my plan during Open Enrollment and now I can't see my regular specialist. Isn't this what the whole review period is supposed to prevent?
Answer: First of all, I know how frustrating it can be to find out that a specialist isn't a part of your new plan. However, there might be a few things that you might want to try to see if you can still see them.
First, try contacting your provider to see if there are any exceptions or if they can offer any alternatives for seeing your specialist. Also, call your specialist office to see if they would accept an out-of-network rate. Some providers may allow you to visit at a higher cost. The last thing you can do is call your agent to see if they have any access to Medicare advantage plans or Supplement plans that may have your specialist in their network.
Learn from this mistake in the next open enrollment period and make sure that all of your doctors and specialist are covered before signing up.
I'm turning 65 next month; what are the first steps I should take regarding Medicare enrollment?
Answer: Great question! The first steps that you need to do is sign up for social security. You can do that either online, on the phone, or at your local social security office. Once you sign up, you need to make sure you get your Medicare ID number and write that down somewhere so you can find it easily. Now you will get a hard card with that information, but if you can get it before hand it will make signing up much easier.
Once you complete all that, contact me to start the process to sign up for Medicare and I will walk you through the rest of the process.
