Q&A with Eileen Falk
Can you help me understand Maximum Out-of-Pocket (MOOP) limits in Medicare plans, from your experience as an agent?
Answer: It means all copays, deductibles and co-insurance payments go towards the Maximum Out-of-Pocket (MOOP). The only thing that does not is the copays and deductible for the prescription portion of the plan. All of this pertains to Medicare Advantage Plans.
I thought I signed up for both Part A and B when I got my Social Security, but now I'm getting bills for Part B. Did I miss something during the enrollment period?
Answer: Are you actually receiving your Social Security Benefits? If so, it might be timing. I would suggest that you reach out to Social Security immediately and ask why you are getting bills. I would also recommend that you set up an account at www.medicare.gov where you can see bills, claims, etc....
I hope this helps.
Is Medicare Part A enough for hospital coverage?
Answer: It truly depends on your individual circumstances. Most persons can make arrangements to pay the Part A deductible but what about other expenses.
My neighbor says I'm crazy for paying for a Medigap plan when Medicare Advantage is "free." What should I tell him?
Answer: You could advise this neighbor that your doctors don't participate within the Advantage Plan and that you prefer not having to search for new doctors, or, that you prefer "freedom of choice" and like what you have.
I'm on a fixed income and struggling to afford my medications. What's this Extra Help program I've heard about for Medicare Part D?
Answer: What state are you in? If NY EPIC - New York offers the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage.
How will advancements in wearable health tech (like smartwatches) integrate with Medicare?
Answer: Honestly, not sure. I know many people use Smart Watches or Safety Buttons. However, I don't believe it is just Medicare beneficiaries that wear them. They help all persons, no matter the age.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: To hopefully make the transition into Medicare be painless. When I work with my clients at the end of the journey I normally hear, WOW that was not as painful as I expected, you made it so easy. The education, thoughtfulness and time your provided put my mind at ease.
The "maze" of the journey is made easier by a person that can guide you and assist.
