Do I really need help in figuring out what's best for me as for as Medicare Planning?
Answered by 51 licensed agents
Medicare planning is a very complex subject that should be discussed with a professional broker that has access to Medicare supplement plans as well as Medicare advantage plans since everyone's needs are very different.
I would advise that you select an independent broker rather than going to an insurance company direct since the insurance company will not give you multiple options with other companies other than themselves and they may not have the plan that suits you best.
You may or may not need help. Medicare can be very confusing and most people aren't well versed in all the rules and the way coverage works. The ads you see on television do not explain how Medicare works very well as they are focused on selling only their product. The best thing to do is find a local broker that has a good reputation and use them. There is no fee to work with a broker and unlike a captive agent, a broker can show you multiple products instead of just one.
I would like to help you. To do a complete assignment, I need to speak with you. I need information about you and what you would like your program to complete.
So the question you really need to ask yourself is whether or not you know the answers to the changes or Medicare, what effect the wrong choice is in your own life, will you be affected by IRMA, what is the right Prescription plan for you? Are you better in the now and the long run in the choice you make due to the fact that if you’re in your IEP and you have no Underwriting involved how the choices do or don’t work for you.
If you needed to go to court, you’d bring a lawyer; if you needed to have a major health issue addressed, you’d seek a Medical professional. Why would you not then consider working with an educated professional in something that will determine your health choices for the rest of your life?!?!
Agents are the professionals. Don’t chance to get it wrong by not having one.
I advise you seek face to face assistance to ensure all medications and Healthcare providers are reviewed for coverage options. Some clients of mine found out they were eligible for State or Federal assistance with prescription and/or medical care cost sharing. Other clients of mine found out the desired a Medicare Supplement based on their needs. There shouldn't be a cookie cutter answer from agents/brokers. A thorough review in is Your Best Interest.
The short answer is YES! Work with someone like me who knows all the "ins and outs" of Medicare! Who works with clients everyday and can offer BOTH : Medicare Supplement AND Medicare Advantage! These decisions are huge and have lasting impact! Work with me and we'll help you with Great information so you can make a Great decision! AS I ask my clients -"do you know of anyone that has BETTER health as they get older?? We can make you feel confident in your choices!
Yes, improper health care planning could derail the rest of your financial planning. You've worked hard to retire, let's make sure you are properly insured in order to protect your nest egg.
We all need help one way or another no matter what. Did you know that the best professional golfers have coaches and trainers to help them? Well yes, it's not the same thing but choosing a Medicare plan can be done without having anyone help but it's a good practice to have a second set of eyes (and a trained professional) to see what you're doing and possibly provide quite a bit of help. Here's the good news: a licensed Medicare agent typically will not charge you anything to help you. You don't pay more if you go through an agent and chances are you will save time, money and frustration.
It is not required to seek help and support in navigating your Medicare options, but it is highly recommended due to the growing complexities with Medicare. There have been some big changes in Medicare over the last 5 years and working with a local, trusted, advisor can help make it easy and simple to navigate the best plans and options for you as an individual.
Agents are educated and trained on the most up to date information related to Medicare and will take the large amount of information related to Medicare and summarize it for you and help educate you on how it applies to you and your needs.
Why not take advantage of a zero dollar cost for expert guidance, support, and resources?
Need, yes. Have to, No -- Unless you are very familiar with how plans work in conjunction to your healthcare planning, and medications; it is highly suggested you seek council from an Advisor.
If you truly understand the in's and out's of Original Medicare, as well as Part C/Supplement plans & Part D, then no. However it doesn't cost more to get information, as a matter of fact, it's free to you. There's no downside in talking to a broker with access to all the plans in your area. All brokers get paid the same regardless of premium, so it's not as if they get paid differently based on the premiums like other insurances.
It's important to understand all your plan options before making an informed decision. Not fully understanding your options could lead to unexpected penalties or unpredictable out of pocket expenses. To help with this, I offer free Medicare educational classes regularly throughout the year, providing prospective members the chance to meet me, ask questions, and gain clarity without feeling pressured or guided in any particular direction.
I thinks it’s always a good idea to sit down with an expert and go over all your choices before deciding on a plan. As agents, that’s our job. We help you navigate the medicare jungle.
I’m going to say yes. Medicare isn’t just one decision
It’s a stack of permanent and time-sensitive choices:
• Original Medicare vs Medicare Advantage
• Medigap Plan G vs Plan N (and when you’re allowed to enroll without underwriting)
• Part D drug plans that change every year
• Provider networks, prior authorizations, and out-of-pocket exposure
• Penalties that last for life if you miss something.
As an agent, I/we have to go thru annual training and certifications to assist you correctly. It’s not to say that you can’t search out the information for yourself and even get things right but I don’t know why one would if they found a good agent to work with them, and the help comes at no cost to them.
Yes, because Medicare changes every year and your own health and financial needs can change too, getting help ensures nothing slips through the cracks. The system has many moving parts, and that is why licensed Medicare professionals stay trained and informed to guide you through every option. You are not just getting assistance but gaining confidence that your choices are truly right for you.
Need is not the operative word. Would you benefit from it? Yes, it would be hard not to. You aren’t experienced and you don’t have Liability coverage. You also can’t be as well versed and educated on someone who does this every day for one or two decades.
If you still think that you are smart enough and maybe you want to save time, even then I would call an area broker and say “I want to spend as little time on this as possible and here are my selections.” You’ll be amazed at how easy it can be.
At the very least you will have someone else available to you in case a problem occurs in processing, initial claims, etc. After enrolling, just ansk out of his marketing, and tell the broker you’ll call them if you need them.
Yes, please use a Broker. Research your Medicare Advantage choices.
Plans are insured or covered by a Medicare Advantage (HMO, PPO and PFFS) organization with a Medicare contract and/or a Medicare-approved Part D sponsor. Enrollment in the plan depends on the plan’s contract renewal with Medicare. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare to get information on all of your options.
Navigating the world of Medicare can be challenging, and you have the right to do it independently; however, it can be tough to find trustworthy information.
When my parents became eligible for Medicare, I realized that it is very complicated, putting beneficiaries at a great disadvantage. I've witnessed many individuals suffer from signing up for the wrong plan, accruing a penalty for not enrolling on time, or even being denied coverage, all because they lacked proper guidance or accurate information. I am here to help you.
Working with a qualified professional has several advantages:
1) Simplified decision making - can help you understand the differences and choose a plan that aligns with your specific health needs and budget.
2) Avoidance of costly mistakes - ensures you don't miss important enrollment guidelines and eliminates any late enrollment penalties.
3) Personalized guidance - will assess your individual circumstances (health conditions, medications, doctor preferences, and financial situation) to recommend a plan tailored to your needs.
4) Time-saving - can streamline the process, saving you valuable time and effort by researching and comparing the numerous plans for you.
5) Ongoing support - provide continued support by reviewing your plan annually to ensure it still meets your needs and help you navigate any changes in benefits or regulations.
Technically, no—you can go to Medicare.gov and compare plans on your own. But here's why working with a licensed local agent (like us at Peace & Grace Insurance Services) can make a big difference: Working with an agent for personalized advise, it also a local agent will be familiar with the local doctors, what doctor takes what and since Medicare can be confusing, choosing an agent can avoid you many costly mistakes.
The short answer is no, you can do it on your own. Navigating Medicare—between Parts A, B, C, D, and supplemental options—can feel like a maze. Many people unknowingly overpay, duplicate coverage, or miss key deadlines, leading to avoidable expenses. Uninformed choices can be costly—especially when every dollar matters.
Working with a good independent agent does not cost you anything, provides you with comparisons and assurance that you are aware of all the deadlines and have an advocate who is working for you.
Yes you really do need help. With all of the changes with the inflation reduction act what was the best plan last year may not be the best plan this year. Also Medicare can be confusing as you start or continue into retirement. It is best to have someone guide you tyhrough the process.
Medicare can be very confusing and overwhelming. Agents and brokers can help navigate through the different parts of Medicare. Brokers can show you all your options to help you decide which is the best option for you.
Medicare Agents are well versed in the details of the Medicare process and the Plans they represent. It's important to enroll during specific timeframes to avoid penalties. Rules are ever changing in the Medicare arena, so yes, it is advisable to get as you go through the process.
A licensed agent certified in Medicare plans is trained to review your individual situation and offer advise about which plans is best suited for your situation. If you are comfortable that you know the "ins and outs" of Medicare then you would not need help. You are not obligated to an agent who meets with you. Keep in mind, if you enroll using a particular agent, the Carrier compensates the agent.
You no not need any assistance but it is highly recommend if your not familiar with how Medicare and need to know which providers cover which carriers and what the plans pay and what your out of pocket responsible are per benefit.
Yes. Medicare is a complex creature and there are many working parts. It comes down to two choices.
1.) You choose Original Medicare + Medicare Supplement (Medigap) + Prescription Drug Plan
OR
2.) Part C - Medicare Advantage
Each one works incredibly differenly. Figuring out what works best for you, and then determinging which company and coverage is vital to the success of your healthcare future. The decision you make now will determine the level of care you recieve in the future.
Decisions you make now regarding Medicare have consequences for the rest of your life. Certain decisions you make now can preclude you from participating in all the options available to you in the future. Medicare broker's services are free to you, why not consult with a professional that knows all of the rules and regulations, so that the choices you make now won't haunt you down the road.
I always advise Medicare members to review their plan each year to make sure it is still the best plan for the coming year. Plans change every year, whether it be plan benefits, providers who accept your plan, or changes in prescription drug coverage. Speaking with an experienced agent is the best way to review your plan changes and compare other plans available in your area. I am happy to help guide you through this process.
I will answer that question first with a question. Would you buy a home, or sell your home, without either using a realtor or a lawyer to do the docs? I doubt it. So why try to figure out the complexity of Medicare plans and the various companies, on your own. Us health insurance agents who specialize in Medicare plans must do a series of re-certifications and trainings every summer. To us, this is not complex, but to the general public, it is. It doesn't cost you anything to use an insurance agent, so why not? Just be sure to use an independent agent, not a captive agent to one company. We make the same commission from all plans, so we won't steer you to one plan over another.
There is no requirement that you work with an agent for Medicare planning but it is always best to work with someone that deals with Medicare on a daily basis. It’s like working on your car. You could probably do the work yourself but wouldn’t you rather have someone trained and knows all the benefits and pitfalls of the system working with you to help you make your decisions? There is no out of pocket expense to the beneficiary to work with a Medicare certified agent
No, you can do everything yourself. You can do all the research, training and aquire years of experience. You will not save money doing it yourself, so why not use an experienced insurance broker. Brokers make a difference.
I strongly encourage you to work with a reputable local agent. Many rules and scenarios that can happen. I have seen people incur penalties because they did their enrollment themselves and did not understand all the rules. Plans can change year after year, so understanding those changes is important as well. Insurance agents spend many hours studying those changes year over year and are extremely beneficial in making sure you are protected.
It is recommended to sit down with somebody knowledgable to go over the different options. There are deadlines, penalties and decisions that can only be made once. At the end of the day it is your health plan and you make the decision. It is my job to provide with all the information to make the correct decision.
In the Phoenix area alone, there are over 160 plans available. How do you know which plan is best for you based on your docs, medication and needs? It's a very good idea to talk with a professional that knows the ins and outs. Try to have a face-to-face conversation and try to avoid figuring out your best plan with someone over the phone for 2 reasons. Number 1, you may live in Arizona and the person on the other side of the phone might live in Maine and they aren't well versued with the plan in your state. Number 2, scams run rampit and Medicare scams are a big one unfortunately. Unfortunatley I've run into seniors that have been scammed with Medicare calls more times than I'd like to see. Just 1 senior getting scammed is too many. It's important to get professional help when selecting a plan.
No, you don't need help. I would recommend that you do get help. Agents like me don't charge fees and are trained every year on the new plans available in the area and are usually up to date on other programs for which you might be eligible.
In my experience, people who have done the work themselves end up spending more money or making mistakes that can't be fixed until the annual open enrollment. There are a lot of moving parts with Medicare so if you're going to do this yourself, please read up on everything and shop the market.
I would never tell you what you need or don't need or what's best or not for you. My job is to help you make certain you don't overlook something in your consideration.
The best part is, you pay me $0 to talk with me or if I write a plan for you. And I don't just work for one insurer, I am in 36 states and represent 15 or more companies with hundreds of plans.
I usually don't have to seek help to advise you. I have been doing Medicare plans since 2009, written a few thousand plans for folks and still have almost 1,000 clients on Medicare plans. So, I usually have your answers off the top of my head.
I don't have to call insurance companies to find answers.
One last thing, it doesn't matter to me which plan you want, my job is to help you find the plan that makes you comfortable. I don't pressure you to have me write a plan or to call me back, it's all up to you.
I believe that if you don't have me write your plan, you'll tell someone else how I helped you. And they'll call me, too.
Navigating Medicare can be overwhelming as it is not one-size-fits-all, and going at it alone could mean costly mistakes. Working with a Medicare agent is no obligation to you and they have the knowledge and carrier experience to bring clarity to the planning process.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires Agents and Brokers to get certified every year to sell Medicare. And, each insurance carrier requires their own annual certification.
It’s always a wise choice to do an annual review of your health and life benefits. The health insurance plan you currently have might not be what you need for the upcoming year.
Having a certified, licensed agent or broker will be able to do a needs analysis with you so you don’t end up in a plan that will leave you financially vulnerable if a medical crisis happens.
The short answer is Yes. Agents are required by both the CMS Federal Government, State Government, and individual Carriers they represent to get extensive training, licensing, and recertification each year. AS An INDEPENDENT Agent I have often multiple carriers i represent. Meaning I may be able to put you in a better plan to meet your specific needs than you even know exists! So to sum up your question you could fix your own car for less. You also could apply first aid to an injury... but something as serious as your Medicare Health Care would be better in the hands of a licensed professional? Again, not for ease of signing up but for you and your Peace of Mind Protection.
That’s a great question — and honestly, I would never tell anyone they’re not capable of figuring things out for themselves. Of course, you know your needs and preferences better than anyone.
That said, I’d ask, “Why not take advantage of professional guidance that costs you nothing?” Working with a licensed health insurance agent allows you to review your options with someone who studies these programs every year. Agents are required to complete ongoing training, certification, and compliance courses annually to stay current on Medicare rules, plan changes, and enrollment processes.
It’s really about helping you make informed decisions with confidence — not about taking that decision away from you.
That's great that you have a wonderful spirit of independence in doing for yourself. Whether or not you need assistance in planning for your Medicare needs would depend on your level of knowledge. Seeking out a professional could only enhance your planning efforts. Any decisions to be made would be yours anyhow. I'm made to recall the saying, "The more you know, the further you grow." A professional Broker/Agent may share with you things you may not considered or have taken into account.
I'm available if you would like to test your knowledge and/or further it.
All of the information about Medicare is online. What is lacking is the expertise to know what questions to ask to apply the information to your specific situation. Look for an expert that will ask you questions and give you real answers, not just sales.
Yes. The process of choosing a Medicare plan can be daunting. It often appears to be more complex than it has to. You want to make sure you choose a plan that fits your health needs and your budget, and a good medicare agent can take the stress out of the process for you.
It is best to receive help from a local licensed Medicare Insurance Agent when planning for Medicare. It is important to get education on all of your options while researching plans to fit your needs, as there is no one plan fits all. I can assist in helping you sign up for Medicare and help you get financial assistance to pay for your premiums. As a local independent agent, I never charge for my services, and I will be with you for the life of your plan. I can be your advocate, if issues arise with billing, or questions. It is important to choose someone who you trust, and has your best interest at heart, AND has a local office, so you know when you need us, you know where to find us.
A Medicare broker will review your doctors, pharmacies, and medications to run them through multiple carriers' systems. This helps identify which plans will keep your doctors in-network, cover your prescriptions, and are likely to provide you the lowest overall costs (premiums, co-pays, and deductibles) not just the lowest premium. You can do this on your own, but it's time-consuming, easy to enter something incorrectly, and you could risk missing important deadlines. Brokers are paid by the insurance companies, not by you directly and the services are available with no obligation to enroll.
