Q&A with Trina Simeona

What's your go-to strategy for helping someone decide between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?

Answer: I go through prescriptions first. Second providers. Third services or treatment they are currently getting and would like to continue to receive in the future. Fourth If they plan to live in current area or plan to live half the year in another state or country. Fifth would be income/ budget for healthcare.

I provide them with an unbiased opinion truly here to serve and make Medicare a clear. I also provide annual check in’s, health can change from year to year. And your health plan may need to change as well.

I’m not just your agent to enroll but for a lifetime and through the different season of life as a senior ages.

I went to a free Medicare seminar and it felt like a timeshare pitch. Are any of those events actually helpful?

Answer: It just depends on which phase you are in. Are you just educating your self on what Medicare is what it provides as far as benefits for a future upcoming enrollment into Medicare. Or if you are already in Medicare and maybe need a refresher. I find educational events are helpful. But if you are seasoned in Medicare for several years and are looking to shop around for more options that fits your needs. Then maybe working with a local broker who is contracted with more than one plan would be more helpful for your needs.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: Having someone local in your area who specialize in Medicare will be able to provide you with local solutions. With so many things going digital some folks I work with appreciate meeting with a real person face to face.

My friend got her cataract surgery covered by Medicare, but they didn't cover the lens she wanted. How does that work?

Answer: Aloha, This is a common problem. With healthcare improvements there are more options for replacement lens. She may have wanted a specific lens that was not covered by Medicare. But Medicare does cover a basic lens. She could have purchased the lens she wanted at an additional cost.
