I'm on a supplemental Plan N, and I'm curious if my recent MRI is covered or if I'll get stuck with a big bill.

Answer: As long as Medicare approves the MRI, plan N should cover most of the costs. Medicare part B must consider the MRI medically necessary. If it does, Part B pays 80% and plan N will pay the remai 20%.

Hey, I keep hearing about Medicare Advantage plans everywhere. What's the real deal with those compared to regular Medicare?

Answer: Medicare advantage plan works similar to your group plan with your employer where you have a PPO or HMO. They work to replace original medicare

Does Medicare cover hearing aids, or do I have to pay out of pocket?

Answer: It depends on the plan. Original medicare does not cover hearing aids but there are medicare advantage plans that do offer some sort of coverage as a benefit

How does Medigap Plan K compare to Plan G for someone on a tight budget?

Answer: Plan K typically offers lower monthly premiums than Plan G. However, your out-of-pocket costs will likely be higher. It's a give and take

I just started on Medicare Part D, and I'm confused about whether my new cholesterol medication counts toward my coverage gap. Can you explain?

Answer: Yes, almost every prescription you fill under your part D plan counts toward the spending that moves you into the coverage gap. What you pay and what your part D plan pays both add up toward the dollar limit that triggers the coverage gap.

Over the counter drugs, vitamins or medications not covered by your plan does not count

How do I request a doctor be added to my Medicare Advantage plan?

Answer: To request that a doctor be added to your plan, you basically contact your insurance company (the one that provides your Medicare Advantage plan) and ask if they can contract with that doctor. You can call the member services number on your insurance card and tell them you want a certain doctor added to the network. They’ll take the doctor’s name and office information and let you know whether they can reach out to the doctor or if they already have a process for this. They can’t guarantee the doctor will join, but they will tell you what steps they can take and what your options are in the meantime.
