Q&A with Richard Wu
If I qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, how does that eligibility work together?
Answer: If a person qualifies for both Medicare and Medicaid, they are considered "dual eligible", meaning Medicare pays first as your primary health insurance, while Medicaid acts as your secondary insurance to help cover leftover costs. You can also choose a Medicare Advantage Plan to pair with Medicare and Medicaid these are called Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP).
