Q&A with Renee Pena
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: I love just being a resource to my community, with so many changes going on in the insurance space you need a trusted advisor.
Are Medicare Advantage plans really "free," or is that just clever marketing?
Answer: Medicare Advantage plans, are not entirely "free." While some plans may have a $0 premium, there are often other costs involved, such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Additionally, these plans might require you to use a network of doctors and hospitals, and you may need prior approval for certain services
It's important that we carefully review the details of the plan to understand the full scope of costs and coverage.
My kids keep telling me to get a Medicare Advantage plan, but my friends say stick with Original Medicare. Who should I listen to?
Answer: The best choice for you depends on your personal health needs, financial situation, and preferences. That's a benefit of having a trusted agent to discuss your specific circumstances to get tailored advice.
How do you educate clients who are completely new to Medicare?
Answer: I have a interactive presentation we review together to breakdown the different parts of Medicare and what that will mean for you. It's a big transition for anyone and you are bombarded with information in the mail and spam calls, it can be overwhelming. Its best to have a dedicated discussion about Medicare before choosing a plan. I can help from the first steps of applying for Medicare all the way to choosing and using the plan.
My friend said she got a free annual physical with Medicare, but my doctor billed me. What's going on?
Answer: Your annual physical is a preventive service so there should be no cost But it depends on the coding that the doctor's office used. If you discussed anything with the Dr to prompt further diagnostics they will code it as a diagnostic exam instead of preventive. If you think it was a mistake I would call the billing office for the Dr.
