Q&A with Marisol Adamo

What do you enjoy most about working with Medicare clients?

Answer: What I enjoy most is being able to truly help people understand something that can feel confusing or overwhelming. Medicare has a lot of moving parts, and I love seeing that moment when things finally click and someone feels more confident about their choices.

I also really enjoy the relationships I build. My clients aren’t just names on a list — I get to hear their stories, learn about their families, and be someone they can trust when questions come up. Being able to support people in both English and Spanish is especially meaningful to me because it lets me help even more members of my community.

At the end of the day, knowing I made the process easier and gave someone peace of mind is what I enjoy the most.

What should people know about Medicare and its parts?

Answer: People should know that Medicare isn’t just one program — it’s made up of different parts, and each part covers something specific. Original Medicare includes Part A, which helps with hospital care, and Part B, which covers doctor visits, outpatient services, and preventive care. Then there’s Part D for prescription drugs, which is separate and offered through private insurance companies.

You also have the option to choose a Medicare Advantage plan, known as Part C. Those plans bundle your hospital, medical, and usually your drug coverage into one plan, and many include extra benefits like dental, vision, hearing, or gym memberships.

The biggest thing I tell people is this: Medicare gives you options, and understanding the parts helps you choose what fits your health needs and your budget.

I've heard that once you're on Medicare, you might not need life insurance as much. Is that true?

Answer: Honestly, it depends on your goals. Medicare helps with health care, but it doesn’t replace what life insurance is designed to do. Life insurance is about protecting the people you love, covering final expenses, and making sure you don’t leave a financial burden behind.

A lot of my clients keep some form of life insurance even after they’re on Medicare because they want to make things easier for their family or leave a little something behind. Others choose a smaller policy that fits their budget and still gives them peace of mind.

So, it’s not that you “don’t need it” anymore — it’s more about what you want it to accomplish for you and your family.

What's the trade-off between a Medicare Advantage PPO and HMO when it comes to flexibility?

Answer: Medicare Advantage, PPO plans offer more flexibility in choosing providers (including out-of-network). HMO plans require staying within a network, but often at lower costs.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: Working with a Medicare agent is beneficial because they can help you navigate the complex Medicare system, compare plans, and find the coverage that best suits your needs and budget, often saving you time and money.
