I'm turning 65 in three months but still working with employer coverage. Do I need to sign up for Medicare right now or can I wait?

Answer: No, you do not have to wait until your birthday month to sign up for Medicare. It is best to start gathering all the information at least 3 months prior, so you have all the coverage you need. Do you have all the doctors' information? Your prescriptions and health records? If you will need any procedures that you have been holding off until retirement, that also needs to be considered.

I worked for the federal government for 30 years and took early retirement. How does my federal retirement affect my Medicare options?

Answer: Since you were federally employed, it is a good idea to check with your medical plan to ensure that if you change, you can change back if you're unsatisfied with the Medicare choice. There have been instances where a client will lose the benefits they receive from the government.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: Working with a agent gives a client personalized advice and saves time in choosing the correct plan. Agents can also look for alternatives for specific medications and doctors.
