Q&A with John Lynch
Can I change my Medicare Part D plan anytime, or only during certain enrollment periods?
Answer: The short answer is usually no—Medicare generally locks you in for the year. For most people, you can only switch your drug plan during the Fall Annual Enrollment Period, which runs from October 15th to December 7th. Another reason it is nice to have a broker help you vs. a 1-800 number.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Because I'm an broker agent, I don't work for just one insurance company—I work for you. If you call a specific carrier, they are only legally allowed to tell you about their own plans. I can pull up plans from multiple different carriers side-by-side and give you the objective pros and cons of each. My only goal is to find the one that actually covers your needs.
