Derrick Clevenger, Medicare Insurance Agent
About Me
I have always enjoyed working with people, especially helping them with their finances, retirement & asset protection. I specialize in Medicare, Life Insurance, and income planning in retirement. I grew up working with agriculture, small business, entrepreneurs, and senior citizens. My grandfather, father, and uncle ran a family-owned farm input business in Gibbon – supplying the area with gas, diesel, chemicals, fertilizer, and propane. This business started in my back yard as my house was located right next to my grandparents. Growing up with family running a business together, I learned first-hand the importance of communication, customer service and relationships. I also value community involvement, which has led me to actively serve on Gibbon’s City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Gibbon Ball Association.
Q&A with Derrick Clevenger
I picked the plan with the lowest premium, but now every doctor visit feels like a surprise bill. Should I have gone with a higher premium instead?
Answer: There are many factors to consider when choosing your plan: network available in your geography, accessibility of providers & current health conditions. It’s not as easy to evaluate a plan based off premium unload. One needs to evaluate the big picture when choosing a plan.
When is the best time of the year to start looking at Medicare options?
Answer: For seniors turning 65 - its best to start reviewing options 3 month prior to your birthday month. For Senior already receiving Medicare Benefits, it's important to review your Part D Prescription drug plans during Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 - December 7th. I encourage clients to review their Medicare Supplement rate annually after the first of the year.
