Q&A with Christina Campbell

How do I find local Dentists that take my Medicare coverage?

Answer: There are several convenient ways to find a dentist or provider. You can create an account through the online portal or use the mobile app on your phone or tablet. Then go to the “Find a Dentist/Provider” tool available through your insurance plan. You can also reach out to your agent for assistance. Finally, you can call the customer service number listed on the back of your insurance card for help.

What should I look for in a Medicare plan if I travel frequently both domestically and internationally?

Answer: Medicare coverage is mostly limited to the U.S. (including territories). So, I would look for a Medicare Supplement Plan G, High - deductible Plan G, Plan N or a Medicare Advantage PPO if traveling within the USA.

Medicare Supplement coverage Plan G, HG, N will have some foreign medically necessary emergency care services for the first 60 days you are outside of the USA.

Outside the U.S., coverage is very limited—only in rare situations like emergencies near the border or when a foreign hospital is closer than a U.S. one.

Because of this, many people buy travel medical insurance for trips abroad. Some Medigap plans may help cover emergencies overseas.

Important notes:

Prescription drugs bought outside the U.S. aren’t covered.

Some travel vaccines are covered under Part D.

Always check your plan details before traveling.
