Q&A with Anis Arfaoui
I'm getting conflicting information about whether Medicare covers my specific medication. How can I get a definitive answer?
Answer: You original Medicare will cover Part A and B only, however if you need your Medication to be covered, you must have Part D, with is Prescription Drug coverage or Part C, which is Medicare Advantage Plan.
I just got Medicare Part A, and I'm worried about hospital stays. How do I know if my overnight stay will be covered fully?
Answer: When it’s covered
You must be formally admitted as an inpatient (not just “under observation”).
The hospital must accept Medicare.
The stay must be medically necessary.
💰 What you pay in 2026 (Part A only)
You pay the inpatient deductible per benefit period.
After the deductible, days 1–60 are fully covered.
Days 61–90 require a daily coinsurance.
After 90 days, you use lifetime reserve days (higher coinsurance).
Can you explain Special Needs Plans in Medicare?
Answer: In Medicare, Special Needs Plans (SNPs) are a type of Medicare Advantage plan designed for people with specific health or financial situations.
They combine Part A (hospital), Part B (medical), and usually Part D (prescription drug) coverage into one plan — but with benefits tailored to certain groups.
What's the most cost-effective way for a healthy 65-year-old to structure their Medicare coverage?
Answer: You keep Medicare Part A & B, and instead of traditional Medicare plus add-ons, you enroll in a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan offered by a private insurer. Many include prescription drug (Part D) coverage and extras like dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits (e.g., SilverSneakers) without an extra premium.
