Q&A with Bill Zeky
Answer: Being of Medicare age myself, I enjoy the fact that at this stage of life, many Medicare customers are well aware of what they need regarding their own health situation. They know much more about Medicare coverage than they think. It's always a good conversation.
Answer: The biggest misconception I encounter has to do with Medicare advantage plans. People often rely on the advice they receive from friends and family which usually isn't correct.
Answer: I really enjoy meeting with my clients as often as possible. So, I treat people as I want to be treated. If I can, I'll drive to meet with anyone, usually at their kitchen table. I feel it's good to put a face with the voice.
Answer: I believe the biggest mistake seniors make when enrolling in Medicare is going directly to a carrier and not choosing to deal with an independent agent such as myself. Going directly to the carrier doesn't allow them to compare coverages and pricing.
Answer: I reach out to my customers prior to annual enrollment each year to offer them to review their plan. Because pricing and coverage levels change each year, reviewing coverages annually is very important. Plus, needed prescriptions and overall health and your finances can easily change from year to year. Annual reviews are a must.
Answer: Without knowing the inner workings of CMS, (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid), I can only guess that it would probably increase costs for everyone. What I do know is the teeth, eyes and ears of seniors are aging right along with all of our other body parts and should not be neglected. I encounter too many seniors that neglect these vital coverages.
Answer: The simple answer most of the time is no. However, under the right circumstances, it is possible to make that change without answering the health questions.
Answer: The difference between an agent and a broker has to do with representation. An agent represents a particular company whereas a broker is licensed to sell multiple companies' products within a defined market. We are all licensed agents, but I am a broker.
Answer: As I stated on another questions, many points of confusion are the fault of getting advice from uneducated sources. While family and friends are well intentioned, they're not well trained, annually tested licensed insurance agents. Politely listen to them but then seek out a professional who will fully educate you.
Answer:
Your first step is to request your Medicare coverage to start on the first of your birth month. You may either go online at ssa.gov or you can make an appointment at your local social security office and meet with one of their staff.
Next, give me a call so we can meet to have a basic discussion and I can gather some needed information.
Answer: Your Medicare enrollment is not affected by your credit, current or past. More importantly I'd like to help you find out why your current coverage left you so exposed to your medical bills.
