What’s the trade-off between a Medicare Advantage PPO and HMO when it comes to flexibility?

Answer: With HMO plans you have a primary care physician and need referrals to specialist in network. PPO plans let you see doctors and hospitals in network or out without a primary care or referral

How do I compare Part D plans to minimize costs for a mix of generic and specialty drugs?

Every year I stress over picking a plan and still end up surprised by the bills. Is there any way to just get peace of mind with Medicare?

Answer: Change from medicare advantage to Medigap. You will pay a monthly premium but never get a bill. You can keep the plan forever and have peace of mind knowing your exact cost upfront

What’s the cheapest way to get Medicare coverage if I only need basic hospital care?

Answer: Medicare Addvantage Prescription Drug PPO plans are typically $0 premium monthly. When you use it you pay a small copay. The only big copay is cancer and you can get a cancer rider for about $11 per month

I just enrolled in Medicare, and I've got my Part A and B, but I'm hearing there are gaps in coverage. What are these gaps exactly?

Answer: Part A & B cover 80% of dr and hospital only. Most, pick a medigap or advantage plan to cover the other 20% and prescription drugs

What's one piece of advice you wish every senior knew before picking a Medicare plan?

Answer: You only have one shot a guaranteed issue into medigap. If you want to move from advantage to gap down the road you have to answer health questions

Does Medicare fully cover nursing home care, and are there alternatives?

Answer: No. You need a long term care policy. The younger and healthier you are the cheaper it will be. Some go with advantage over medigap and use the saving to fund LTC.

What is Guaranteed Issue for Medicare Supplement plans, and when does it apply?

Answer: You do not have to answer health questions during your initial enrollment (turning age 65 or loss of group coverage over age 65) If you ever want to switch from addvantage to a supplement you have to be healthy

I went with Medigap because I travel a lot, but now I’m paying a fortune in premiums. Did I make a mistake?

Answer: You can can change to a Medicare advantage plan during Annual Enrollment. The premium is $0 but you will have copays and a book or doctors.
