Q&A with Morgan Greer

What’s one Medicare decision that too many people regret later?

Answer: Not considering the pros and cons of Medicare Supplements and Prescription Drugs vs a Medicare Advantage plan. Both options have good reasons to choose and it is important, especially as you get close to turning 65, to examine those options with a professional who can help.

What is one of the the most common misconceptions people have about Medicare?

Answer: That Medicare will cost an "arm and a leg." The truth is, there are costs, but also, often times people are in a far better place under Medicare than they were on ACA plans or on their employer group's plan.

Does Medicare cover eye exams, or are seniors left paying too much?

Answer: Technically speaking, no, Medicare doesn't cover eye exams. Medicare covers Hospital and Medical costs only. However, there are ways to get eye exams and other health needs covered, and I'd be happy to discuss what options you have.

For Medicare Part D, why would someone pick a plan with a high total cost?

Answer: The most common reason for paying a "high cost" Part D plan is because it's expansive formulary covers the expensive drugs that you take. When considering Part D, it's important to make sure your drugs are on the formulary, otherwise, you have to pay out of pocket for them without any price reductions. Choosing the right Stand alone Prescription Drug plan, or choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan + Drug Coverage (MAPD) is a crucial task. I'm here to help you make sure you know all of the costs and options when it comes to this big decision.

I'm turning 65 soon, when can I enroll in Medicare?

Answer: Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) begins 3 months before your birthday, your birth month, abc ends 3 months after your birth month. This 7-month IEP is the crucial time to enroll.

Are Medicare plans and requirements different for every state?

Answer: Medicare plans are different in regions even, so within a state, there will be multiple carriers offering multiple plans, sometimes differing zip code to zip code. Working with an independent broker, like myself, can help to widen your options and explore what will be best for you.
