About Me

My name is Maureen Hazlett and I'm a licensed insurance agent serving individuals and families in Florida and Pennsylvania. I work with people who are new to Medicare - as well as those reviewing their current coverage - to help them better understand their options.

I take a straightforward, educational approach to Medicare. I will explain how coverage works, review plans available in your area and help you compare options based on your needs and budget. My goal is to make the process easier to understand so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

If you're turning 65, considering a plan change, or helping a loved one, I'm here as a resource to guide you through your options.

Areas of Focus:

• Medicare Advantage (Part C)

• Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans

Q&A with Maureen Hazlett

I'm living solely on Social Security of $1,400 monthly and can't afford my Medicare premiums and copays. What assistance programs might help someone in my situation?

Answer: There are a few different programs available to help Medicare beneficiaries with low income. The Extra Help program helps to cut down on the high cost of prescription medications by capping generic drugs at $5.10 and brand name drugs at $12.65. The program has income limits to qualify. Additionally, the Medicare Savings Program has 4 different qualification levels, based on income limits, that can help to pay some or all of your Medicare premiums and copays.

I am familiar with both programs and have successfully helped multiple clients to receive assistance. I also help clients to find discounts and assistance programs directly through the manufacturer for costly prescription medications.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: Consulting with a licensed Medicare agent can save you time and money and can help you to avoid incurring late enrollment penalties. I meet with customers face-to-face to go over all options for receiving your Medicare benefits, through Supplements as well as Advantage plans.

Medicare can be confusing and each person's situation is unique. I take the time to get to know you and your needs in order to find the right plan for you. I guide my clients through every step of the process and create a timeline for enrollment in each part of Medicare to ensure that no deadlines are missed.

I am involved after initial enrollment by acting as an advocate for all of my clients with any questions or concerns about billing, and by doing an annual review of all my clients' drug plans.
