Q&A with Martin Altman

Who can help me figure out this Medicare "maze and alphabet soup" it's so confusing.

Answer: A local experienced agent like myself will be glad to help. Next year, 2027, I will celebrate 40 years in the Insurance business. I’m sure that I can answer any question you have. If not right away I will do the research for you 😊

Does Medicare cover emergency care if I'm traveling in a U.S. territory like Puerto Rico?

Answer: Medicare provides Part A and Part B coverage in Puerto Rico as well as Part C, Medicare Advantage and Part D, Prescription Drug.

Does Medicare pay for medical alert systems?

Answer: Unfortunately, Medicare parts A or B do not cover these systems. However, Medicare part C or Medicare Advantage plans do provide full or partial coverage for a medical alert system.

Will Medicare cover the cost of Medicare treatment?

Answer: Medicare part A {hospital} is provided usually at no cost to the beneficiary.

Medicare part B {medical} beneficiaries are required to enroll unless they are receiving Social Security Benefits. Part B premiums are deducted from their monthly benefit. This amount depends on the beneficiary's income. Beneficiaries of lower income can have their premiums reduced or eliminated, and with a Medicare Advantage plan may qualify for additional coverages such as a grocery allowance, transportation and delivery of meals.

How has the push for healthcare price transparency affected your work as a Medicare Agent? What's one unexpected outcome you've observed?

Answer: This push has not affected me at all.

Price transparency is needed in Obamacare, not Medicare.

The unexpected outcome is the increase in misleading MA tv commercials.
