Q&A with Maria Davis Arnold

Answer: Different areas can sometimes have different Health risks that causes premiums or co pays to vary. Cost of living can vary from different areas also.

Answer: Either through a stand alone plan or through a Medicare Advantage plan that offers it.

Sometimes an employer retiree plan will offer it.

Answer: It depends on what plan you have. Some plans cover it better than others. You also might be eligible to get additional help with the costs through different programs.

Answer: I’m sorry but I’m not licensed outside of Pennsylvania. If you can’t find a local seasoned agent please call. I may be able to help you find an agent

Answer: Yes. During Medicare Open Enrollment, October 15–December 7, you can leave your SCAN Medicare Advantage plan and switch to Original Medicare. The change would take effect January 1. Turning 66 in November does not prevent you from switching.

Before you switch, check two pieces of coverage:

* Prescriptions: If SCAN currently covers your drugs, you may need a separate Part D plan.

* Medigap: Original Medicare has out-of-pocket costs, and the annual enrollment period does not automatically guarantee that you can buy a Medigap policy without health questions. If you joined SCAN when you first became eligible at 65, you may have a first-year right to buy Medigap. The date you first joined matters more than your 66th birthday.

I’d check your SCAN start date and Medigap eligibility before submitting the switch.

Answer: Usually an independent agent can show you different companies and is not limited to one company. So an independent agent can show more companies and plans.

Answer: Everyone’s situation is different. Different plans offer different benifits and some you have to qualify for. Please call me so we can see what might be available to you.

Answer: I’m sorry I’m not licensed in Illinois anymore

If you need help finding a local agent please call me.

Answer: Usually, no. The October 15–December 7 Medicare Open Enrollment Period lets you change Medicare Advantage and Part D coverage, but it does not automatically let you switch Medigap policies without medical underwriting.

You may be able to switch without your health affecting acceptance or price if you’re still in your one-time, six-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period or have a guaranteed issue right. Otherwise, a new insurer may ask health questions and may decline your application or charge more. The Medigap period is separate from fall Medicare Open Enrollment. Please call your see what is available to you.

Answer: You can switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another.

Switch between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage or join, drop, or change a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, depending on how you get your coverage

In most cases your change would take effect Jan 1st

Answer: I’m not an agent in your area. I would find a liacal seasoned agent to help you. Your choice should be based on what is important to your needs c

Answer: You don’t have to sort through Medicare alone. I can help you compare options based on your doctors, prescriptions, budget, and what matters most to you. I’m here to help.
