Do I need Medicare Part B if I have VA benefits?

Answer: You do not have to enroll in Part B if you have VA benefits. However, it is highly recommended in case you have to go to a non-VA doctor, urgent care or hospital.

How can I plan for Medicare costs if I expect to need long-term custodial care in a nursing home or assisted living facility?

Answer: There are 3 options:

1. If you have sufficient assets $1 million+, you can self fund.

2. Spend down your assets and go on Medicaid.

3. Purchase Long Term Care insurance.

Also remember, care can be in your home or at an Adult Day care facility.

How often can I change my Medicare Plan?

Answer: You can change a Medicare Supplement plan nay time during the year. A Medicare Advantage plan can be changed during Open Enrollment (Oct 15 - Dec 7) or if you have a Special Enrollment during the year.

How do you avoid IRMAA surcharges on Medicare premiums?

Answer: FOR 2026 IRMAA IS BASED ON YOUR INCOME FROM 2 YEARS AGO (2024). THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID THE SURCHARGES. AS YOUR INCOME CHANGES, IRMAA WILL BE ADJUSTED.

Is Guaranteed Issue available after the Medicare Open Enrollment period ends?

Answer: It depends on the type of plan - Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage and if a person has a Special Election Period.

I'm enrolled in a Medigap Plan F, and I'm not sure how my emergency room visits are handled. Is there a copay I should expect?

Answer: There are no out of pocket for emergency room visits. Plan covers Medicare approved expenses at 100%,

Answer: Getting advice from a neighbor or anyone not Licensed for Medicare plans. Every person has unique health, income and healthcare needs.
