Justin Lucas, Medicare Insurance Broker

About Me

Justin obtained his license in 2015 while working in the tax and financial services industry. Growing up in a family-owned business that opened its doors in November of 1998, Justin grew up learning and assisting in financial services and tax preparations.

After obtaining a Bachelors of Business Degree in 2013 he started to explore other options outside of financial services and tax preparations. Wanting to branch out on his own he found a connection with helping service clients in the insurance industry. Ranging from life insurance for an individual or the whole family, to a variety of different health insurance plans and specializing in the senior healthcare market.

It’s the goal of United Senior Solutions to find the best plan for each individual and their needs. Our motto at United Senior Solutions, “What is best for the client?”

have been trusting Justin Lucas since my retirement in 2016 to find an adequate Medicare Supplement supplier and Part D prescription insurance provider. I know that I can trust him to find me adequate insurance at a reasonable price . There are so many things to research about preparing for retirement that I welcomed his expertise in finding the Medicare supplement and drug coverage best suited to my needs. Becky Smith.

Q&A with Justin Lucas

Answer: I personally like being able to help people make a difficult decision about their health insurance.

Answer: While some Medicare Advantage plans may not have a month premium to them, I would not call them free. You might not have a upfront or monthly premium but you typically have co-pays for your services.

Answer: No, you can not switch to a Medicare Supplement/Medigap Plan with out health underwriting questions unless you have a Special Election.

Answer: Special Needs plans are for people that have certain chronic health conditions or specific needs. These plans are to enhance the healthcare coordination.

Answer: CMS still wants the person to have some skin in the game. If it doesnt cost you to go to the doctor you will run to the doctor for every cough you have, but if you have a cost associated with it you may not run to the doctor for every cough.

Answer: That is a question that has a lot of debate behind it. Some technologies are good while some technologies are bad

Answer: As I tell everyone that stays with just Original Medicare, I do not advise it due to the fact that there is NO STOP LOSS. And you still have to have a Part D plan.

Answer: MAPD give you a stop loss. Depending on the plans you may receive extra stuff like Dental, Vision, Hearing.

Answer: The reason you should work with a Medicare Agent is because when you have a problem you have someone to call, your agent. Your agent should be able answer your questions or find out the answer if they do not know it. With working with an Agent you also get the knowledge that they have about all the different plans, either MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS or MEDICARE ADVANTAGE. Who wants to know all of that or wants to learn something new at the age of 65? Let a Agent/Broker help you.

Answer: Yes you have a Special Enrollment Period if you lose employer coverage. In the state of Indiana you have to find out if it is involuntary or voluntary. That can play a role in if you chose a Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage.

Answer: That is going to depend on if you have a Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage. Medicare Supplement, No you do not need to change anything. Medicare Advantage, Yes you will need to find a plan that is in your service area, also you will want to check your doctors and medication also.

Answer: Yes, you will be penalized unless you have creditable coverage. Employer coverage, retirement, unions. If you have one of those, you should still apply for you Medicare Part A and deny your Part B coverage if you have one of those coverages listed.

Answer: You have 3 options to apply for Medicare: Call Medicare, Go to your local Social Security Office, Go online to Medicare.Gov. If you are already drawing Social Security, you will be automatically enrolled into Medicare Part A & Part B.
