I'm a green card holder who's been in the US for 4 years and turning 65 soon. Am I eligible for Medicare?

Answer: You will become eligible for Medicare once you hit the 5 year mark. And if a person who has at least 40 quarters of work credits then your Part A coverage will be premium free. If not you will most like pay a monthly premium in addition of your Part B premium.

Should I keep original Medicare or go with an Part C, Medicare Advantage plan? What is better?

Answer: It depends on you. With Original Medicare there is more freedom to choose any providers who accepts Medicare without referrals or per-authorization. But there is a higher cost without a yearly cap on your maximum out of pocket expenses. With Medicare Advantage (Part C) your MOOP is $9,250 in 2026. And you have extra perk like dental, vision, hearing, meals and others.

Does Medicare cover dialysis at home or in-center?

Answer: Part B will cover your in home dialysis treatment. And Part A will cover inpatient dialysis treatment

I've been on disability for years and am about to turn 65. Do I automatically get Medicare because I'm on Social Security, or do I need to do something?

Answer: You will be automatically enrolled. Three months before your birth month you should receive confirmation you have been automatically enrolled.

Does everyone over the age of 65 qualify for Medicare?

Answer: Not everyone over the age of 65 is qualified for Medicare. You must be a US citizen or a legal resident (green card) to qualify for Medicare.

What’s the best Medicare plan for someone with chronic kidney disease?

Answer: The best plan for someone who has a chronic disease is a Chronic Special Needs Plan (C-SNP) Medicare Advantage with prescription drug plan. A C-SNP plan has extra benefits and well-coordinated care that is specifically to your chronic condition.

I'm turning 65 soon, when can I enroll in Medicare?

Answer: You have a 7-month window which you can sign up for Medicare. For example, if you were born in March then you can sign up for Medicare as early as Dec 1st and as later as May 31st. After that 7-month period you may face a permanent late penalty. However, there is special adjustment if your birthday is on the 1st of the month your coverage starts the month before you turn 65 and it ends two months after your birth month.

Is my son or daughter allowed to help me with my Medicare plan?

Answer: If you they have a power of attorney under you they can certainly speak on your behalf. But if you can make decisions for yourself but you need a family to translate or give you support during a one on one session with an agent that would be okay.

Does Medicare cover vision care?

Answer: No, it does not. Certain eye conditions might be covered under Medicare. Under Medicare Advantage a routine eye exam is covered at not cost. Some plans cover eyeglasses and contact lenses.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: You are free to sign up to a Medicare Advantage or supplement on your own. Either from the insurance carriers or directly from Medicare.gov. But if you have question you will spend a lot of time on the phone with a Medicare agent or from the insurance carriers. They might you a short answer. If you work with an agent they will try the best to service your needs. And their service to you is free. They are paid directly from the insurance carriers.
