Q&A with Jason Colletti
Is there a penalty for Medicare Part A or B for a 65-year-old green card holder who hasn’t met the five-year U.S. residency requirement and has no other insurance?
Answer: No. there is no penalty for someone who is not yet eligible for Medicare.
A 65-year-old green card holder who hasn’t met the five-year U.S. residency requirement cannot enroll yet, and therefore cannot be penalized for not having Part A or Part B.
Does Medicare cover mammograms, and how often can I get them?
Answer: Medicare covers mammograms as part of its preventive services. For women age 40 and older, a screening mammogram is covered once every 12 months under Part B (Medical Insurance). Additionally, if your doctor orders a diagnostic mammogram due to symptoms or other concerns, Medicare will cover the cost as well.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Working with a Medicare agent is a huge benefit, they help you stay updated on annual changes and navigate the state-specific options. They offer holistic advice, helping you find coverage that fills in the gaps Medicare doesn’t cover, and ensure you’re making the best choice for your needs.
