Q&A with Grant Evans
Answer: Yes absolutely. Personally, I have over 10 years of experience now, but I did start my career in insurance directly out of college. I was fortunate to be following in the footsteps of my dad, so I was able to lean on him with any questions I had. I think that it all depends on the specific agent and how much he/she knows about the plans in your area.
Answer: The signs of if being time to change plans are that your doctors and prescription costs have increased and also when you have additional doctors or prescriptions. I recommend reviewing annually, especially if you have any doctor or prescription changes.
Answer: Yes, you would need to pay for the medicare year round regardless of if you are living part of the year abroad.
Answer: An agent that is local is going to know the Medicare plans that are in your area, which means that he/she can find the plan that BEST fits your needs. (prescriptions, doctors, specialists, etc) An agent that is not local will not be as well versed in the plans that are offered in your area. A remote/virtual agent will likely have a more general understanding or just put you in a plan that is popular, rather than going through your specific needs. I am a local agent, but I do also offer virtual appointments for my clients if that is proffered.
Answer: The agent that you work with needs to be licensed in the state that you reside in. Local agents are also ideal because they will know the specifics of each plan better than an agent that is less familiar with the plans in the area.
Answer: Your agent will be able to provide all of your plans benefits. You will also be sent a copy of your benefits, as well as the contact information for member services if you are to have any specific questions.
Answer: There are a few, but I think knowing where and when to use your medicare card is not spoken about enough. When do you show your medicare card and where should I keep it?
Answer: That is a tough question because it would depend on the medication. It is always best to have an agent look over your current medications and doctors to ensure that you are in the best plan for the upcoming year.
Answer: Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period starts on October 15. It is best to get in touch with an agent to get something scheduled, as this can be a very busy time for agents.
Answer: You will not have anymore copays or fees for medical reasons, but you still will have prescription costs. Your medical out of pocket cost is separate from your prescription out of pocket cost.
Answer: By working with a medicare agent, you are able to get an unbiased opinion in what plan fits your needs the best. We work for you, not the company!
