Q&A with Ginger Gibbs

What is the biggest mistake seniors make when enrolling in Medicare?

Answer: Not getting all of the information on options and requirements - such as being required to carry a PDP plan at minimum if they don't have something creditable

What is one of the the most common misconceptions people have about Medicare?

Answer: that it just happens automatically. That they don't have to do anything or add anything to it. It is not explained well at all by the people at Medicare.

If you had to pick just one, what’s the worst Medicare-related decision someone can make?

Answer: To not enroll in Part B when they qualify for it. Also to not enroll in a PDP plan when they qualify for part D. This can be very expensive

What's the difference between a Medicare broker and a Medicare agent?

Answer: Mostly they are the same thing - but a Medicare agent typically only represents one or two carriers, when a broker contracts with many more carriers and doesn't work/sell for only one specific carrier.
