Q&A with Collin McCoy
Does everyone pay the same for Medicare?
Answer: Technically no, depending on what your income levels are you may have to pay more for your part B due to IRMA, also some Supplemental plans along with advantage plans have a higher premium.
Will I lose my Medicare benefits if I get married?
Answer: No, Medicare is on an individual basis, even when married you and your spouse will have to have separate Medicare Policies. If your spouse is on a group Insurance policy through their employment you would be able to join that.
I'm retiring next year - do I need to do anything with my Medicare?
Answer: That would depend on your age for retirement or if you currently are on Medicare, if you are currently enrolled in Medicare you will not need to make any changes, if you are not you will want to make sure your Part A and B are effective if you will be loosing your employer coverage.
If I have Medigap or secondary insurance, does it cover my Medicare Part A and Part B deductibles?
Answer: That depends on what type of Medicare Plan you have, is it a Medigap Plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan, I would need more information to give an accurate answer.
My neighbor says I'm crazy for paying for a Medigap plan when Medicare Advantage is "free." What should I tell him?
Answer: Yes my premium may be more but I don't have to worry about copays at the doctor office like I would with a Medicare Advantage plan. I also dont have to worry about a network of doctors like I would with an advantage plan.
I'm enrolled in a Medigap Plan F, and I'm not sure how my emergency room visits are handled. Is there a copay I should expect?
Answer: No, by being enrolled in Plan F you should not be seeing any type of co-pay for an emergency room visit.
