Q&A with Bernadette Baugh
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: I love being able to help people better understand their Medicare insurance coverage so they walk away feeling confident in their decision. Medicare can be a challenging part of a person's life. If I can take away most of that burden, then I feel I've helped make a difference.
What's the most frustrating misconception you have to clear up with clients about Medicare every year?
Answer: The most frustrating misconception is people think there's a cost to work with a local agent. Local agents are familiar with the networks and plans in your area. They're a fantastic resource to have. Each agent spends hundreds of hours a year researching plans, learning about new changes in the industry, and ultimately they want to help the members of his/her community. Building a relationship with your local agent will help eliminate a lot of frustrations that can come along with Medicare.
I'm confused about which vaccines Medicare covers. Can you explain which ones are free?
Answer: There are many vaccines that are now covered for free by Medicare Part B or D. Flu, Pneumococcal, COVID-19, Shingles, Tdap, RSV, and any other CDC-recommended vaccines for adults are the main vaccines covered at no-cost with Medicare coverage.
