Q&A with Austyn Harris
Every year I stress over picking a plan and still end up surprised by the bills. Is there any way to just get peace of mind with Medicare?
Answer: Yes you can. There are multiple types of plans Medicare advantage plans we have copays and possibly deductibles which will leave you with cost that you have to pay for treatments or doctors visits. You also have Medicare supplements that may not have as many copay that you have to pay out of pocket. The best thing I would suggest is working with an agent so they can help explain your plan in a way you understand exactly what you may have to pay.
Are Medicare plans and requirements different for every state?
Answer: Yes Medicare plans are different depending on the state. Medicare advantage plans can vary quite a bit from state to state. Where Medicare supplements will stay pretty standard from state to state. The premium will be one of the things that do change. When it comes to requirements they are pretty similar, but I would need a little more context about what you are meaning requirement.
My mom is considering switching to a Medicare Advantage plan because her friends say it's better. She's scared of losing her current doctors. How can we check?
Answer: You can check that on somewhere like medicar.gov. I would highly recommend that you meet with an agent and verify your doctors along with the pros and cons of your plan versus a Medicare Advantage plan.
What are the most overhyped benefits of Medicare Advantage plans that seniors should be wary of?
Answer: I would have to say dental benefits. The reason is a lot of the times the plans may look good but have limited amount of coverage or limited dentist available Where a standalone dental plan may have a broader network plus have higher limits.
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: I get to help Medicare beneficiaries find the plans that best suit their needs along with filling gaps that some plans may have. I like helping people on Medicare above all other types of insurance because I feel it is were more help is needed because it is so different from any other Insurance we have most of our lives.
